What the hell happened to Kes?

Seriously, one of the reasons I chime in is there is such a double-standard when it comes to weight in America. Women are attacked much more viciously for being overweight than men are.

Maybe, but it's not like famous men can gain a lot of weight and just skate by. I seem to recall a big tabloid headline from a few years ago that said "William FATner!"

You speak the truth, Kemo Sabe, but the majority of such fat-hating comments are reserved mainly for female celebrities. To put it another way, check out the double standard in sitcom land, where the husband is a fat guy and the wife is a skinny minny (The Honeymooners, According to Jim, King of Queens). When was the last sitcom where the wife was fat and the husband a skinny guy? Can't think of any. -- RR

First of all, those pictures are old. As for Lien, she's been a bit up and down in her weight the recent years. A few years ago she was very thin, now she seem to have gained some weight again (but not as much as the 2001 pictures).

Second, she's not the only one who have gained some weight which we can see here: http://creationent.com/past_events/stlv2008/adds/VoyagerCast.JPG

Third, it looks like we have a lot of new posters who are presenting themselves by coming up with nasty attacks against Kes/Lien and that really makes me wonder who those "newbies" are and if it is some sort of "campaign" going.

The link does not work anymore. Did Creation find out about this thread and take it down since it may hurt business:lol:?

True, but the bumbling fat slob gets the cute girl is a comedy staple, and is filled with it's own stereotypes.

The Jeffersons.

Not really, she look perfectly fine to me.
No, she's overweight in these pictures and it worries me if people consider that "perfectly fine", it shows that we as a society are getting fatter and fatter and many people start to see being overweight as the norm. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't call her enormous, but she's far from "perfectly" fine, more like "slightly overweight but still fine if she doesn't gain more weight" fine.

That said, the stick figures on TV (Teri Hatcher for example) don't look perfectly fine either.

I meant she is "perfectly fine" in the context that i nor anybody else has the right to judge her on how she looks or how she lives her life.

The link works for me.

I saw Jennifer at Vegas last August and she looked fine. She wasn't overweight at all, so whatever the situation was would appear to be under control.

Someone, I can't recall who, said she won't chat with fans during autographing sessions because she suffers from some kind of social phobia. It did seem to me while I was waiting in line that she rarely looked at the people standing in front of her, tho' I did get a little smile when I thanked her for the autograph.

Don't be so paranoid. I am new to the site.

It certainly isn't the Trek way to judge someone on thier appearance, certainly when it is so superficial to one's self, so to speak - but - you would certainly have to be deluded not to notice a severe change for the worse (generally speaking). Frankly, she has been eating too many pies! She should cut down, it's bad for her health and her appearance. If she really doesn't care, then fine - but she should. It is clear that she is overweight and judging someone for that is the same as judging someone for smoking which is certainly something people here wouldn't be afraid to pass judgement on. Both involve excess and addition and both have negative consequences from which you should seek help.

I apologize. It wasn't my intention to be rude. But there have been some strange posts with not so nice remarks about Lien recently.

I can see your point and I agree with your health analysis.

They chose her on her talent, not her looks cause I never thought she was that pretty considering that they had their pick of certainly the most beautiful young actresses in Hollywood.
