Seriously, one of the reasons I chime in is there is such a double-standard when it comes to weight in America. Women are attacked much more viciously for being overweight than men are.
Maybe, but it's not like famous men can gain a lot of weight and just skate by. I seem to recall a big tabloid headline from a few years ago that said "William FATner!"
You speak the truth, Kemo Sabe, but the majority of such fat-hating comments are reserved mainly for female celebrities. To put it another way, check out the double standard in sitcom land, where the husband is a fat guy and the wife is a skinny minny (The Honeymooners, According to Jim, King of Queens). When was the last sitcom where the wife was fat and the husband a skinny guy? Can't think of any. -- RR
