He also did a guest appearance on The Love Boat: The Next Wave as Manuel Kaire, estranged father of ship's bar manager Paolo Kaire. When Paolo was a boy, his parents divorced and he blamed his father for breaking up the family. Manuel has come aboard to extend an olive branch, which Paolo refuses.
Father and son finally reconcile after Manuel reveals the truth. Manuel and his wife split because she had an affair. He was a professional race car driver, and could hardly take Paolo on the racing circuit. To keep Paolo from hating his mother who had to raise him, Manuel took the blame for the breakup.

I recall the first time I saw Kahn, it was Space Seed, it was probably in 67, I was 8 at the time. He was the first Trek villian that I ever saw and never forgot "Kahn Noonien Singh" Kahn is us Trekkers. TWOK was also one the best Trek Films, producing one of the most classic lines/words in ALL Trek, I don't need to repeat it. I never did watch Fantasy Island and had lost track of what he was up to, I hope that Majel was on hand to welcome him to heaven along with all the others we have lost...

In one of life's many ironies, I was just watching TWOK on Saturday night with a friend and we were speculating about Mr. Montalban's health. Rest in peace Mr. Montalban. You have left an indelible legacy in the entertainment industry, especially Trek.
