^^I think that posting sketches would only be a problem if the artist read the forum they were posted in.
That is the reason I have moved on from this. I can't wait to see what the artist OFFICALLY comes up with for the Aventine. It was fun coming up with concept ideas for what I thouyght she would look like. Good Luck and i can't wait to see the Offical design.
Hmm, so I wonder if this means we will be seeing more of her beyond A Singular Destiny? Or is it still early enough for there to be a fold out or picture added to that book.
That's great news Marco. I am always delighted to see new starship designs. I want to say thanks to the folks at Pocket Books and the people responsible for the Titan design contest and the hiring of Masao Okazaki to design the Archer Class and Vanguard station. I hope that Pocket Books will continue to have drawings and renders of new vehicles added to the Star Trek universe.
Great news. I can't wait now myself. I was wondering why Sean wasn't posting anything more. I hope its a good design too.
They have another artist working on it. Marco is looking for a project for me sometime in the future (hopefully, but nothing as of yet).
Hi all! I've just completed the 'Destiny' trilogy and WOW! What a series!! I'm a big fan of the USS Aventine and I've already seen Mark Rademaker's design that will be the official look of the ship. Now not taking anything away from Mark's design which is a good ship in its own right, but it simply wasn't the kinda shape of the ship that I had in my mind when reading the book. I thought this thread (although inactive for some time) would be a good chance to show you all what I had in mind and do hope that posting my designs here isn't treading on any toes or anything, I just wanted you all to see what I've come up with. This last one is an earlier sketch of mine, showing the ship with a much higher rollbar and a separate sensor module, rather than having the module moulded into the rear of the ship as I've done in later versions.
calamity_si: were your sketches inspired by the White Star ship from Babylon 5? Looks very similar IMO.. ..liked that design alot (I also liked the "final" design of the Aventine that was posted on www.trekmovie.com)
Yeah GOOD one fellas! Next time I fancy receiving a smack-down on my work, I know where to post it now. Thanks.
If you're looking to be jacked off, you'll have to do that on your own. That said, I thought the ship looked kinda cool. Seemed a little too fat in the second image, but not too bad.
sorry, but i never liked the White Star design and I never liked B5 and anything that looks like a B5 White Star design in Trek ain't gonna fly in my universe. plus, that's a fugly design and i've seen some fugly designs...
If I were to rise to that first comment u made I could see this conversation degenerating quite quickly so in the interest of keeping the peace, I'll just say a polite 'thank you' and leave it at that.
Thought some of u might like to know that Mark Rademaker has done a small update of the Aventine on his blog site.
I don't know if that was directed at me too, but if it was I'm sorry, I'm not gonna say I like something I don't.
Not to worry I'm sure plenty of other people feel the same. Win some / lose some I guess... Anyways Mark's update can be found here. http://mark-rademaker.blogspot.com/2009/01/aventine-small-update.html I'm sure you'll all have plenty of nice stuff to say about his design so feel free to drop him a comment, I'm sure he'd appreciate the feedback.
