Great scene between Jack and Tony.

Question...as someone who has followed 24 very irregularly, why wouldn't Jack's annoying daughter want anything to do with him?

Jack wants the secrecy of CTU out in the open so he can seek public approval for his actions. It's not an act of moral conscience. He openly admits he doesn't regret a thing. And Kurtwood Smith's character is being played up all too much as a villain for his statements to be confused with those of the show. Combine that with the scene in the car where the FBI officer expresses his admiration for Jack, and you're not seeing much of a "liberal" bent at all. At least I'm not.
I'm not getting that at all, about Jack seeking public approval for his actions. If he openly admits no regret for those actions, what does it matter what the general public thinks? He simply seems to want the secret operations to be made public, because he feels the public has a right to know. And I get the impression he feels it's not right in some way, that things were done in such an underhanded way.

I definitely DO agree with you about the portrayal of Kurtwood Smith's character. Granted he's onscreen all too briefly for much else to happen, but he's too stereotypically the uptight self-rigthteous senator looking for a fall-guy.

Kurtwood Smith will be back later in the season.

But you're all watching the show right now, so we can hold this debate off until after we've both seen the episode (I'm on the west coast right now).

Because she's a selfish stuck-up bitch.

Pretty much all I've got. Their relationship has been "strained" since her mother died and during a time she thought Jack was dead. But, really, I don't know why she'd want nothing to do with him other than her just being Kim.

So I'm guessing that some combination of Buchanan, Tony and Chloe are responsible for Tony having a grave he's not taking up space in. This almost implies they had some kind of contingency plan at the time Tony 'died' in Jack's arms.

Question...as someone who has followed 24 very irregularly, why wouldn't Jack's annoying daughter want anything to do with him?

(1) Her mother's death in CTU.
(2) His alleged death in CTU.
(3) When it was revealed he was actually alive, she was brought to CTU, and suddenly it was attacked and people everywhere started dying.

Basically, Jacks' world is one of death and despair. They seemed to have reconciled a bit in season five, but that was when he told her (and her then boyfriend) to get in a car and get as far away from Los Angeles (and him) as possible.

Yeah, I concur. We don't call her 'Stupid Kim' for nothing.

I thought it (the first 2hrs)came off well, Good to see that Kurtwood Smith (aka Red Forman) was back to playing an arrogant A-hole type character.( he good at that).
saw some familar faces from some Trek & SG1 eps, I just couldn't place them.
anybody??

Chloe is great. And she always looks so pensive. Like she's getting ready to throw up or something.

Love her.

Like her better as a blonde though.

Outside the government! They're working with Torchwood! :p

Uh-oh, government corruption in the President's inner circle!
