With a new U.S. presidential administration around the corner...

Not for nothing, but are you fucking kidding? We're in the middle of the worst economic crisis since 1929 and you're worried about that? I can't stand Obama but his focus is exactly where it should be.

Also, it ain't government's fucking job to focus on scientific research. It's the job of the private sector.

What new administration? Anyone remember talk of bipartisanship? So far, every appointment has strongs ties with the Clinton administration, either having served in a previous administrative position or a deputy/assistant position.

Oh, then there is the promised fairness doctrine. Quickly summarized, this puts an end to any Judeo-Christian radio and television, and silences conservatives. If you dont agree with the Rev Al Sharpton or Nancy Pelosi, you have to give them "equal time".

Anyone remember a little thing from our Bill of Rights called FREEDOM OF SPEECH???

Lets talk health care: billions promised to Planned Parenthood; a lift on EMBRYONIC stem cell research (which, by the way, has never shown repeatable results in trials outside of the US; only ADULT stem cells have).

Then there is spreading the wealth. Yes, there are people in situations who cannot work. However the vast majority of US welfare recipients are multi-generational. Its a fact. Lord Obama was crown king by promising more handouts and registering homeless and illegals to vote (without any way to verify their identities) and busing them to early voting locations, conveniently created for this election. I saw it here in Ohio, and when it was challenged, the Ohio Attorney General refused to pursue the matter.

The liberal messiah promised change. All I see is the removal of Christian freedoms, silencing conservatives, and punishing those of us who actually work for an honest living and dont depend on the government.

Geez! I just asked a question. No need to snap. Might I suggest decaf?

If you think I'm bad, you should read the rant that followed.

Interesting OP. Waste of a good thread on whining and ranting.

Good point!

Blockaderunner, under Obama's benevolent leadership we'll engage in a new era of mutual hand-holding, skipping through Green Again meadows, and funding new initiatives in science. War will end, hunger will be sated, and money will be equally distributed to all so no one is left wanting anything anyone else has. We'll make big government even bigger, but that's okay, because it's in the RIGHT hands now, and certainly no one in Obama's administration will abuse that kind of power. After all, Government is where the ultimate answers in money, fairness, and even science lie.

[sighs with a starry-eyed gaze off into the distance while contemplating the possibilities]

Hope. Change. Obama will show us the way.

Really.

Even though his appointments are starting to look same-old, same-old, change is coming! Even though he wants to fund more programs and regulate industry more in the middle of a disintegrating economy, Obama brings hope.

:techman:

Yes the President Elect has given his top scientific posts to another couple of "green" supporters. No Space for you! Rocket launches hurt the enviroment and scare cute little fuzzy animals.

You forgot the Ethereal Chorus starting another rousing verse of Kumbaya.

Bla bla blah. More whining. (but this time, with sarcasm, which shows an effort that has to be appreciated even when misdirected).

Last administration was very anti-science. You can't argue with that. This new one will change that direction somehow, even I think it will focus more of alternative energies and environments than space exploration (Obama actually said that during the campaign), which I consider a pity.
