I'm a big fan. I must confess that Japan has spoiled me. While you can get decent Sushi in the states, you can't get it for hyaku-en a plate.

Whenever I go to Ikebukuro, there's a maru-zushi place I always hit. I'll go through like ten plates before I stop, not because I'm full, but because I don't want people to think I'm a big fat American.

Sushi is one of those things that if you like it ( I do) you really should keep it to yourself, or at least don't talk about more than you would any other food, as then you'll look like one of those people that uses every opportunity to tell people that you like sushi. People will make fun of you after you've left the room.

I like it; I don't get it too often because I like hot Japanese food so well.

saba, maguro, sake, tako (nigiri or sashimi) on the top of the list along with spider crab maki.

My daughter loves tobiko gunkan.

But when you leave the room, you'll be eating sushi, and they will still be bitter douchebags.

I love sushi. Top of the list is probably chirashi, or similar donburi. The maki, nigiri, sashimi, whatever are all great, and I'll eat them, or combinations of them depending on mood. One thing I haven't done in a while, and I miss, is sitting at the bar and basicly spending the whole night there, trying one small tasty treat after another. A true indulgence, it is the sort of behavior they don't like at the heartless corporate chains.

Immediately thought of this:

Holy crap that is fantastic!
I think I know some people that comply to about 30 of the things on that list!

Ew ew ew. Sushi is disgusting. And I have actually tried it several times at several different places because I have friends who claim to like it....I have a very hard time believing that anyone likes it, I think it's like some big joke that people are playing, pretending to like it. :p:p:p:p:p

To be totally pedantic, sashimi refers only to strips of raw fish. Fish or anything else (eg. cooked egg) on a mound of sushi rice is called nigirizushi. The gunkan sushi mentioned above is a variation on this: a cylinder of rice with a rim made from nori seaweed, topped with small, soft foods, such as fish roe. Sushi rolls are called makizushi.

Boy, am I hungry!

Me too...I'm turning Japanese. I think I'm turning Japanese. I really think so.

Try not to get any on me...

That urban legend was created (and by that I mean "made up by the New Musical Express") to fit the song. Not the other way around. ;)

I love sushi. I don't eat it a tenth as much as I"d like to, living in the least asian corner of Michigan.

Also: licorice.
