Happy birthday, DS9!

I didn't see a thread for this, so apologies if this is a repeat.

Actually, belated birthdays. I noted that on Sunday, January 3, 1993, DS9's "Emissary" first aired.

So, happy sweet 16, DS9!

And it will be 10 years since it was cancelled. I love that dead child.

I don't think it was cancelled...it was my understanding that the show just ended its run.

Yup, running for 7 seasons and concluding your story arc is not cancelled.

Happy b-day DS9!

Ouch! I couldn't feel older. I remember it like it was yesterday. I still have my VHS recording of the broadcast handy. In a year or two, depending on the state, a girl born the day I first saw it would be able to...well, anyway, I feel old.

Nevertheless, happy belated birthday to Deep Space Nine.

Can't believe it's been 16 years already. I still remember me, my brother and my dad watching "Emissary" that day.

Happy anniversary DS9.

God, it's hard to believe it's been sixteen years! I still recall reading the TV Guide special article on the new upcoming Trek series, DS9. It had an essay that was "written" by Picard, where he talks about this new Sisko guy, and the struggles he would face with Bajor and the Cardassians when he assumed command of the DS9 station.

I read that article while waiting for my Chinese food to be cooked. Then I brought the dinner home and ate it while I watched the pilot. Eventually, I would watch episodes of DS9 when it aired on Saturday nights with friends who were fellow Trek fans. We actually gathered for movie nights, but DS9 was always the pre-movie entertainment for us.

I've recently rediscovered this series on DVD (as you can tell by my avatar), and am pleasantly surprised at how well it's held up over the years.

Happy Birthday, DS9. :)

Oh sure, on both counts. :bolian:

I usually change my avatar to another SF hottie after a while, anyway. Before this, it was Sam Carter from Stargate.

Do you role play?

Would be interesting what it would be like if Ezri and the mirror Ezri were to meet up

Man, I remember watching "Emissary" first-run. I was all of nine at the time, but I remember being excited weeks in advance since I was so hooked on TNG at the time.

Wait, wait, wait...
Since this aired in January and not September, does this mean DS9 only got 6.5 seasons instead of the established Trek 7??!?

Nope, I've never had any interest in role-playing.

Yes, that's true. The first season of DS9 was shorter, with only twelve, thirteen episodes--the same goes for Voyager, as well.

Got a point but really who calls it half a season.

Look at the DEAD ZONE. Gee, it did not have that many episodes per season but it could have been the same amount of episodes as the first season.

Let not do the number game. Is a season from September to June? Is a season with X amount of episodes? It is not that important so I call it a full season. Number of months and the number of episodes is pointless.

Yesterday and Today, I did not realize that it's been 16 years since DS-9 first show. That was yesterday, thanks to technology I have all seven seasons of today I can relive yesterday any time I want...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEEP SPACE NINE :):):):):):):)

One smilie for every year it was on
