I think the show was both postive and negative for the franchise,it shows how the federation and starfleet in it's early beginings and the unknown they first humans will face in the unknown space, and the negative that they totally screwed it up by rewriting the world of trek that roddenberry put in place.

I only count the first 21 episodes of series four of Enterprise as my canon... It's probably up there with DS9 in my opinion, so hence, I voted 'Indifferent'..

I loved the show, but there are a few things that I thought could have been differently, keeping in tone with all of the other shows that had gone before.

It's premier was very respectable, what followed clearly wasn't what audiences wanted. The show would have done better to really let loose with humans venturing into space. In this, they should have let the ship be more adveturous and making mistakes in the process.

I wish the'd spent more time discovering and exploring the later Federation aliens- Telerites, Andorians, races from TAS. There were a host of exploration and discovery tales to tell long before dealing with Klingons, Romulans and other threats of the future.

Finally, I wish they'd never done the temporal cold war. That just made my stomach churn every time it came up. Overall, I liked the series, but a lot more could have been done with it.

It is my belief that in general Enterprise did not hurt the franchise. However, with that being said, I still think in many ways it was a lost opportunity, just not one that did any further damage beyond the condition things were already in circa late 2000/early 2001.

Agreed so very much with those who would've liked to have seen even a small pause for the cause between the end of VOY and the beginning of ENT. I believe that would've provided additional differentiation as well as a refueling of the creative juices.

And no matter what, as a strong ENT fan, along with those others who are as well, we got 4 more years of, in my mind, equally good, if not better, Trek then we'd been getting prior.

It was an admittedly flawed prequel that helped flesh out pre-TOS history and gave us all our first real glimpses of the previously unexplored 22nd century. All in all, a real WIN for the franchise even if the show was cancelled early and got low ratings.

The slow pace of the first season put me off quite a bit during my first viewing, but having to watch it near midnight here with a ton of commercials added to that. When I watched it all at my leisure I enjoyed that pace because there was the element of waiting.. the crew get very impatient because nothing really interesting is happening, just more comets etc.. (I do realize that "waiting" is not exactly a hot theme in tv-land).

I've thought about that. I was very thrilled to actually see them in the first place, the Andorians and Tellarites. If the series had been written with TOS fans in mind for sure there would have been more of them.. but it wasn't. I feel like we were lucky to get as much of them as we did.

Well the time travel eps across the series have always been a favorite with me. I even like that they never resolved who future-guy was etc.. it's a time war so the possibility that a resolution will occur somewhere in time and you will never ever know what the heck happened is very real.

Sums it up perfectly for me!!:techman:

I enjoyed most of Enterprise, it was not perfect but few things are. I do wish they would change the theme song for the reruns. The song just never seemed right.

Negative effect.

Continuing the downward spiral in Trek creatively that began with VOY.

Another wasted concept.

It wasn't that bad. You're entitled to think it was shit, though. Free forums and all. Say what you like.

But after the supreme cross-galactic letdown that was VOYAGER it would have taken a lot for ENT to be worse than its immediate predecessor.

I love Star Trek fans who don't like Star Trek. :p
I've said it before, and it bears repeating:

I never knew how much Star Trek sucked until I came to this BBS!!

It's like skipping happily down the street of Trek, all content and joyful.

Then you find this run down house, and from inside a group of outcasts
pulls you in. When you resurface... you're all

But seriously... it's all good, it's all Trek. I havn't been pulled in.

I'm with you there. There was some good, some not so good.

I wasn't the biggest TNG fan, but how often do I go into the TNG forum and complain about every little thing?? Never.

Trek fans are a bunch of cynical whiners!!
