11th Doctor Casting announcment tommorow

Dear God, the last time I saw a forehead like that, it was on the guy who'd discovered fire. He reminds me of Peter Boyle in 'Young Frankenstein':wtf:

Lazy choice by the Beeb - a chance to really shake up the character and they're sucking up to their young girl audience.

Pity.

How does picking an ugly guy appeal to young girls?

They'll probably see the whole brooding, Twilight thing in him. I see big forehead, squinty eyes.

Moffat has dropped the ball. Each new actor to play the Doctor has always managed to bring their own experience to the role to echo all the previous actors who came before. And this new kid has... what experience? What revealed talent? He's a month younger than me! And not a single notable role to his name. Oh god, I'd rather have Catherine Zeta Jones.

His face is even annoying to look at. He looks like he has down's syndrome, for chrissake. I want to set his face on fire and put the fire out with a hammer.

I think it's funny how people who've never seen him in anything, already have such a strong opinion of him. I'm happy enough to wait and see what he's like in 2010 before I judge.

This is the Internet: you can't not have an opinion. Plus people can have opinions of his age, and the fact that he looks vaguely like David Tennant (in the sense of "also has a face," I guess), both of which will obviously be vital to the quality of his performance. ;)

And what had David Tennant done, before Doctor Who, really? He was a cameo bad guy in a Harry Potter movie. Now we know what he can do, but then? People were up in arms about him replacing the guy with the crooked nose.

Let's give him a chance and see what he can do. They obviously saw something in him, or he wouldn't have the role.

If Moffat says that Smith has a "bold and brand new take" on the Doctor, it's really all I need to know. "Bold and brand new" sums up what a regeneration should be.

Who the hell is this guy...When his face came on the screen I thought he was another one of the writers... :|

Tom Baker was working at a construction site when he was picked for Who.

What Brendan said. :)

Now the Doctor's younger than I am. I'm feeling old. :/

You and me both. Still, I'm going to see where this is going. Also, he's officially the first Doctor that I'd want to shag.

I didn't realize how much I had been rooting for Patterson Joseph until now. Oh, well, let 2010 ring in already!

Yeah. I'm sure Moffat wants to bring something genuinely new to the programme, and he wouldn't cast an actor who he didn't think could manage that. Maybe in 2010 I'll believe he's wrong, but for now I'm going to assume he hasn't been allowed to make the biggest mistake ever.
