Curious -- what is Jonathan Frakes up to nowadays?

I have always gotten the impression that Frakes is comfortable where he is at in life. I think of all the actors he takes his affiliation with Trek in stride and doesn't try to distance from it as well as any of the cast members. The few times I have met him he seems like a pretty good guy who appreciates his role as Riker and is always there when Trek needs him.

I also like the fact that he is able to make his marriage work and is a family guy. His character was also awesome.

Since this seems to be the thread for all news Frakes there is an interview he recently did over on Trekweb. I guess he had dinner with Patrick Stewart recently and they are both missing Trek. Frakes still has hopes that there will be another Next Gen movie though. Here is a quote from the interview:

iF: At the same time, do you feel sad that the NEXT GEN movies have come to an end?

FRAKES: Yes. By all means. I had dinner with Patrick [Stewart] last week and we were both ready to go back to do another one.

iF: Do you think that ship has sailed that NEXT GEN anything is pretty much off the table.

FRAKES: I don't think so. I think if this is successful, it opens up any number of possibilities for the whole STAR TREK franchise, so we'll see how this does.

Hello! I said I would come back to this thread to report how Jonathan Frakes was at the American Cancer Society event I went to this past weekend.. well, unfortunately he canceled the Wednesday before the event! He was the one actor I was really looking forward to meeting! OH well. .maybe next time. There were still a lot of Star Trek, Stargate, and other sci fi shows that I dont watch represented there, so it was still a good time. Had Connor Trinneer at my table for dinner and he was very nice and a fun dinner guest!

^ That's a disappointment. :( Was there any reason given for his cancellation? As far as I know, it's not something that he routienly does.

I'd love to see a titan series. I think his charisma would carry it.

Without the beard, Frakes looked more like Potsie from Happy Days. With the beard, he looks like Shatner's slightly younger brother! -- RR

I always thought he and his wife made such a good couple. Like one of those couples you can look at and know they're going to last. Hopefully. But they sure made pretty kids, his son is a good-looking boy.

Where have you seen pics of their kids? All the pics I've seen have had their backs to the camera.

What's funny is that I used to hate the Riker character. But eventually warmed up to him. Looking at these pics, he looks like a really down to earth guy. I too would love to get a chance to meet him in person.

Mrs Frakes owns an interior decorating business, in Maine, I believe, where they are living. Mr Frakes, I believe is lecturing at university. Other than that, he's pretty much dropped off my dredas.

It's good to know that both Mr. and Mrs. Frakes are down to earth, and realize that the glitz of Hollywood isn't everything.

Life has been good to them. They are happy with what they have accomplished and where they are in life. :)

To go from being pop culture phenomenons back in the 1980's-1990's to living humbly nowadays with their children in Maine is a lesson in life many in "swag happy" Hollywood needs to learn for themselves in comparison to the rest of our population -- especially during these economic times.

QFT. Funny how people who live simple, quaint lives are happiest, while those who think glitz, glam, drugs, and constant partying are the most miserable.

He had this dream about buying some land. Giving up the booz and the one night stands, and just settle down in some quiet little town and forget about everything... ;)

It's nice to see that he and his wife are doing well. It would still be nice to see him do something more for Star Trek.:techman:
