SG-1/Atlantis future “movies”?

Ah come on - the plot of the movie completely depends on "the actual Stargate." No gate, no movie. How much more use do you want?
How much? More than one and a half times (the half because we don't actually see it dialed at the end), I think. :p

I mean, not only is the whole movie built on the Stargate, but you get to see it decrypted and activated.

Re: SG-1/Atlantis future “movies”?

For those who say they want to see them use the Stargate, why? Surely we don't need more gate porn than we got in the early years, the original movie, and the end of the final regular episode? It's the adventure on the other planet that matters, not how the team gets there and the gate effects.

It is the adventure that matters; however, using the gate to get there means that they won't be yanked out at the slightest hint of danger by Asgard teleporters. It removes a cheat from the hands of the writers.

I agree. I'd like an old fashioned SG-1 story where they go somewhere via the Stargate, get in trouble and have to get out of it themselves.

So far one additional movie for each show has been announced; the SG-1 one will be by Brad Wright, and the Atlantis one by Mallozzi/Mullie
Update: while Brad Wright came up with the kernel of the idea for the third SG-1 movie, it was further developed in conjunction with--and the teleplay is being written by--Carl Binder.

His Atlantis episodes have usually been good and interesting character pieces. Just... ignore his 1.14 SG-1 contributions. ;)

Just saw Continuum. With Ba'al they left it ambigious that the Ba'al they performed the extraction ceremony was actually the last one. They pretty just took it on faith that he was.
Eh, no . We can be sure that every Ba'al is dead.

Why?

Well, between the events of Unending and Continuum there must have been a manhunt on every Baal in the galaxy, leading to the extraction of the last one as depicted in Continuum.

Since Baal himself confirmed there were only two left alive before the first extraction procedure ('As of this moment he knows hes the last') , there are none left.

As far as bad guys, this may be time for the Aschen arc to be resolved. Its a thread ive been wanting to see the end of for a while, and seeing the Aschen encounter Atlantis members would be , in a word, cool.

In any case, the writers have options for new bad guys. And I cant wait to see what they come up with :)

I'm sorry but I don't agree. You trust Ba'al? I think they left the door open. I wouldn't mind seeing other bad guys either, but I wouldn't mind seeing Ba'al again either. I thought he was a great villian.

Hopefully no more Ba'al. I didn't think he was that great or interesting. Apart from in Abyss.

Its not a door they can really 'close'.

Since Baal didn't leave a manifest of all his clones laying around, even if SG1 and the Tokra found knew absolutely that every Baal is dead, there's always that 'secret planet' the writers can use to reboot Baal if need be.

But given the effort in Contiuum to ensure Baal is dead (in more than one time) I doubt he's coming back.

And the writers have lots of options besides has-been's when it comes to choosing SG1 bad guys.

What does that Baal gain by lying? He's about to be executed.
When you're being marched to the firing squad its too late for deceit.

Hed have done more damage keeping his mouth shut about his clone's fail-safe,but he's about to die,so why not tell all ?

And I agree Baal is the best Goa'ould bad guy of the series.
Actually, scratch that.Qetesh might beat him out,as she didn't get executed. And that scene with the phone is priceless.

Because the fail-safe is something that they shouldn't be able to do anything about. Whereas if they know that there are more Ba'als floating around the Ba'al pit--err, the galaxy--then SG-1 and the Tok'ra would keep hunting.

Why would the real Ba'al leave a clone unimplanted with a tracer? I assume that the bit about clones being unable to remove their tracers is true since SG-1 had the chance to examine some dead bodies. The intent was pretty obviously to finish off the Goa'uld system lords in Continuum to close the door on that part of the mythology. I know that if I were writing the next movie, I'd want to move onto something that has not been done before and not do Ba'al AGAIN.
