SG-1/Atlantis future “movies”?

Had some questions. How many, if any Atlantis movies are they planning after the series and will we be seeing any more SG-1 movies? If so I would think Tapping would be too busy with her new series. Any news?

So far one additional movie for each show has been announced; the SG-1 one will be by Brad Wright, and the Atlantis one by Mallozzi/Mullie. No word on which actor(s) will return yet.

I wouldn't be concerned about Amanda Tapping's availability; actors traditionally have several weeks off between each season of a show, so as long as the producers were willing to wait for her availability before shooting it's not a problem. I'd be more concerned about the fact that MGM hasn't deigned to sign any of the main cast for the Atlantis movie yet, and yet it's supposed to be filmed and done in time to be out next year.

Since the significant bad guys from SG-1 are defeated, I'd like to see a great concept movie. Something on the level of Window of Opportunity or 2010 would be awesome.

I'd like to see an SG-1 movie that doesn't include time travel, alternate realities, replicators, ancients or medieval style villages. With hardly any X304 ships, and a lot of use of the actual Stargate.

Well, they just did time travel in Continuum, so I doubt we'll see it again anytime soon (if Brad Wright's notes on the movie in the liner notes to the soundtrack are anything to go by).

What do they have in the way of leftover threads? The Tok'ra? The Furlings? Maybe the Nox? Atlantis and S9/S10 played out the Ancients pretty thoroughly...

Who the hell is going to declare us the Fifth Race, now that the Asgard went and died?

Shame it was quickly spouted in a hurry during a particularly cringe-worthy plot device, and hardly any importance or drama given to it

I was under the impression the third SG-1 movie would be a Jack-centric story, intended to wrap up his character.

I wish they'd actually do something with SG-1 that matters, unlike Continuum. I don't want it to be standalone, I want it to mean something and wrap up some old storyline or something.

Because getting rid of Ba'al didn't mean anything. :wtf:

Just saw Continuum. With Ba'al they left it ambigious that the Ba'al they performed the extraction ceremony was actually the last one. They pretty just took it on faith that he was.

Eh, no . We can be sure that every Ba'al is dead.

Why?

Well, between the events of Unending and Continuum there must have been a manhunt on every Baal in the galaxy, leading to the extraction of the last one as depicted in Continuum.

Since Baal himself confirmed there were only two left alive before the first extraction procedure ('As of this moment he knows hes the last') , there are none left.

As far as bad guys, this may be time for the Aschen arc to be resolved. Its a thread ive been wanting to see the end of for a while, and seeing the Aschen encounter Atlantis members would be , in a word, cool.

In any case, the writers have options for new bad guys. And I cant wait to see what they come up with :)

There is one left over thread - the supposed "massive" Jaffa fleet controlled by Jaffa who apparently hate Earth, and the people in cloaked Alkesh packed with naquahdah waiting to make suicide runs. Arkad was probably telling a few porky pies about the size of that fleet, but it still might be a problem.
