this is a pretty interesting thought...

Lieutenant Junior Grade
so, shran always called humans "pinkskins" when he was talking to archer, right?

what would happen if he was talking to travis?

:)

Hmmm good question (and an ethical minefield)!

I guess this is why they never had Travis speak to Shran.

Or in fact anyone :alienblush:

Come to think of it, why weren't Vulcans called pinkskins? Their skin tone is a much more obvious difference to the Andorians than the shape of their ears.

He just called him by the n word instead. There was a deleted scene where it happened and Travis gave a great speech about why Shran shouldn't use that word and the racial injustices in human history. It was the most moving and powerful scene about racism that I've ever seen and easily beat Benny Russel's breakdown in Far Beyond the Stars.

Like all Travis's scenes it was cut for time so they could fit in more shots of T'Pol in her pyjamas.

From the P.O.V. of a blueskinned creature, how dark or light on the beige-o-meter an individual human registers probably isn't terribly noteworthy. Now, the remark would probably have seemed incongruous to the non-blueskinned and very race-conscious television audience.

Priceless. Not just funny, but spot on all around.
