Avatars...

My favorite movie is Master and Commander, so I usually have avatars from it- particularly pics of Mr. Mowett, a favorite character of mine. Flukie put a Christmas hat on him for me.

^ I love your avatars, trekkidane. They always captivate me. I could watch them for hours! But I have to tear my eyes away to do better things - like rack up my post count! :D

Thank you very much.

Just goes to show that you don't need big fancy flashy avatars if a few frames in two colours can be just as entertaining.

I luv making those big fancy flashy things though… :rommie::rommie:

Like the one I made last christmas to use on Flukies board:

Maybe not fancy, but it isbig and flashy!

I've always wanted an avatar of either Robert Hawkins from Jericho or Will Smith. However, I have never been able to find a good shot of Hawkins, and before I started looking for a good Will Smith picture, the trailer for the new X-Men movie came out, and I decided that I wanted a Wolverine avatar instead.

I used to use funny pics as avatars...
But now i just use head- or portrait-shots of goodlooking women, celeb or model...

There was an avatar contest a while back, the theme of which was God, or something like that. Entered this scene from the Futurama episode "Godfellas", wherein Bender actually meets God. Added a sombrero during that whole Sombreroprise craze, but couldn't bare to remove it afterwards, so it's been that way until just now when I switched it for a Santa hat.

^ I've gotten so used to the sombrero on mine, I can't imagine it without it. The only change I made was to unify the colours.

The guy in my avatar is my favourite comedian, Oliver Kalkofe. The picture is from a movie that parodies the old Edgar Wallace movies. He was also part of a radio comedy group (Frühstyxradio) that's responsible for the most tasteless and disrespectful humour out there. I'm in a sort of excessive phase of listening to it.

I look for images that are distinctly "me"

I think I manage to do a good job of it too. My next one will be just as good.

My avatar is a screenshot from a brilliant little film called Entre la mer et l’eau douce. It stars Geneviève Bujold and takes place in Montréal, hence my use of it here.

Ah, that's who it is. She looked a lot like Audrey Tautou there. Both beautiful women. :techman:

You know, I'd never really thought of that connection before, but you're right. I wouldn't mind being stranded on a desert island with either of them. :D

You really do do good job, because I've always thought that.

I haven't had a wealth of avatars since I've been on the board, wow, 7 years now. However, they usually are relevant to an interest I have or have something to do with where I'm from. I used the pic of the Rocky statue unveiling for quite a while.

Now, though, it's an image of the much-abused Marvel comics hero Quasar, one of my favorites, because his character is making at least a temporary return from death this month.
