Agreed. Just an excuse to get T'Pol and Trip in loose, baggy shirts and playing with one another's feet. It was done with good in-story/universe intentions, but executed very poorly.
If you could change a scene in Enterprise what would it be? Not an episode, just a scene. Something that had you thinking “That was a good episode until…”
My choice, the early decon scene with Trip and T’Pol. I don’t remember the exact episode but it was very early in season 1. It was the first episode I saw and it gave me a bad impression of the series. At the time I thought the target market and idea must be cheap thrills for teenagers. This scene would have really worked later in the series. Let the characters develop, and put it in an episode where it could be a point that Trip comes to the uncomfortable realization that he has feelings for the Vulcan, and T’Pol would have to come to terms with falling for a human. As aired they were too professional. Later it could have been a scene where they struggled to remain professional and struggled to hide their desires from each other.
How long until someone mentions "the episode with will not be named?"
Wow, that would have been both cruel and awkward, and bashers would have had a field day - boards would have been flooded with comments like: "series premiere, and they already made a joke out of Vulcans"The decon chamber scene with Trip and T'Pol would be changed as a precursor to their future relationship. Trip commenting on Vulcans lack of emotions. T'Pol responding with:
"Commander, Vulcans have emotions...strong emotions."
She slowly walks towards Tucker
"We do feel...we feel angry, we feel sad"
She puts her hands on Tucker's chest, staring into his eyes
"We hate, we love...we desire..."
Tucker is hypnotized and leans forward to kiss her
"But..."
T'Pol pushes him away
"We suppress them...through discipline."
T'Pol walks out of the Decon Chamber
Tucker is stunned, grins, shakes his head
"Oh man, can't believe I fell for that!"

(I don't think Vulcans put hands on strangers' chests, so that would mean T'pol was teasing him on purpose).
I would have added a scene in "Silent Enemy,"
T'Pol sending an encrypted communication to Soval:
Soval: "Did the Romulans reveal themselves?"
T'Pol: "No they did not, but I am confirming previous intelligence reports...they have stolen our cloaking technology."

I'd probably read it.If I actually had time.

I would have Trip's future uncertain, instead of having him die.
Not to mention that Archer could've made the speech about him and his loss, but I guess B&B thought "Computer, end program" was a way better valentine to the fans.Trip could still have died in "TATV" but it could have happened in some tragic Jupiter Station or ground-based accident prior to the Charter signing he wanted to see so badly. Something on the surface so random and meaningless, but having more nobility and long-term purpose than the aliens boarding Enterprise and Trip basically committing power-conduit suicide to stop them.
The 'Trip's quarters' scene was an insult to common sense and viewers' intelligence. Using words like classy and sophisticated in relation to TATV makes me wonder if you are in fact mocking us all...I fear HR will come in and ask me to get back on topic, but ... TATV wasn't about "OMG, how can we survive without Trip?" but instead "Yay, Trip enabled life to continue!" It's about hope. I'm glad they didn't show the characters crying in the hallways; that'd be stupid. What I did think worked was Archer and T'Pol reflecting on Trip in his quarters. Classy and sophisticated, not melodrama.
