Heh...yeah, I get what a "Spoiler" is. However, since it's a possible spoiler, I added the word "theoretical". If I'm right, then it's a spoiler. If I'm not, it was only one of a billion theories.
And I would have to have Kirstie back if we were going to see Saavik again. I always thought she did better than Robin Curtis...
That'd be really neat continuity if true...but even Roddenberry never considered TFF to be much more than apocryphal for his own reasons. Which probably makes the chances of a Sybok reference in the movie slim unless Sarek and Amanda make a brief mention of Sarek's previous marriage to that Vulcan princess.
Not Saavik but Selek, the Denise Crosby Romulan/human character from TNG. Their child, Nero became a peace Ambassador and tried to go back in time to create peace between the Romulans and the Klingons and Humans and something went wrong and he turned evil and decided instead to get rid of the Vulcans for good - his father's planet.

Yes, from what I remember he was. Romulan names don't usually sound or are spelled like Vulcan ones.
Don't know where she got the name Sela from but she was human / Romulan. I can remember her ranting about how Tasha had been made a conquest of the Romulan guard and had been killed trying to escape.
There may be confusion here, and I hope I don't make it worse but Selek was a "disguise" character Spock invents to hide his true identity from Sarek, Amanda and young Spock in TAS episode Yesteryear.

Making a reference to Sybok in the new movie would be the ultimate "F.U." to those who still consider STAR TREK V apocryphal and non-canon. But I don't think Abrams is going to mention him unless Sarek and Amanda make reference to his previous marriage and children.
Whatever Nero's plan, giant space octopus or not, it's going to involve burning something onto blank CD's. Maybe DVD's if we get lucky.
All good Romulan plots worth their salt involve bootlegging.
