Nero? (Theoretical Spoilers)

Seems like Nero is ending up being what Paramount always hoped B&B's Future Guy on ENTERPRISE would have been: a time-altering renegade bent on changing any and all history that suited his needs. But one with menace and a real face and personality.

Wow...

So either way... He IS a/the FUTURE GUY! :rommie:

Guess Paramount was getting what they originally paid to have written and shown...even if took several additional years.:p

I'll bet you that this will end up being the case in a novel somewhere down the road.

Nero gives up for a time once Archer and Daniels help facilitate the end to the Temporal Cold War...then hatches a new scheme, this time NOT using the idiot Suliban or Archer's century.

You know how Vulcans have Surak... I think we're going to meet the spiritual father of Nero and his Romulan henchmen in this new film. The stop in the 23rd century was just a detour on their way back in time to meet their philosopher prophet:

This is a theory. It's not too bad a theory. Would they bring back sexy Cheers or the ugly actress to play her older self?

But it's not a spoiler. A spoiler is a confirmed plot detail in a film or work of fiction. This forum is littered with false spoilers.
Theoretical Spoilers are a contradiction.

Heh...yeah, I get what a "Spoiler" is. However, since it's a possible spoiler, I added the word "theoretical". If I'm right, then it's a spoiler. If I'm not, it was only one of a billion theories.

And I would have to have Kirstie back if we were going to see Saavik again. I always thought she did better than Robin Curtis...

Nero is a descendent of Sybok.

That'd be really neat continuity if true...but even Roddenberry never considered TFF to be much more than apocryphal for his own reasons. Which probably makes the chances of a Sybok reference in the movie slim unless Sarek and Amanda make a brief mention of Sarek's previous marriage to that Vulcan princess.

It occurred to me that there is supposedly some "secret" as to what Nero is doing, and why, in the new film. A curious thought dawned on me the other day....is it possible that Nero could be the son of Saavik and Spock? Seems kind of left-field, I know. And I don't follow all the spoilers, so I might have missed something that completely eliminates this possibility. But, it would help in defining why Spock feels the need to travel back in time to stop him. I don't know, too crazy an idea?

Not Saavik but Selek, the Denise Crosby Romulan/human character from TNG. Their child, Nero became a peace Ambassador and tried to go back in time to create peace between the Romulans and the Klingons and Humans and something went wrong and he turned evil and decided instead to get rid of the Vulcans for good - his father's planet.

You know, mods, I may have stumbled on it. Can you erase it ?

You can always tell a Romulan cat because it's the one that has a calm look on its face while it invades the other cats' personal space and kills them all.

Yes, from what I remember he was. Romulan names don't usually sound or are spelled like Vulcan ones.

Don't know where she got the name Sela from but she was human / Romulan. I can remember her ranting about how Tasha had been made a conquest of the Romulan guard and had been killed trying to escape.

Wasn't Selek a Vulcan, though?

There may be confusion here, and I hope I don't make it worse but Selek was a "disguise" character Spock invents to hide his true identity from Sarek, Amanda and young Spock in TAS episode Yesteryear.

Nero does somewhat remind me Sybok.

Making a reference to Sybok in the new movie would be the ultimate "F.U." to those who still consider STAR TREK V apocryphal and non-canon. But I don't think Abrams is going to mention him unless Sarek and Amanda make reference to his previous marriage and children.

Whatever Nero's plan, giant space octopus or not, it's going to involve burning something onto blank CD's. Maybe DVD's if we get lucky.

It is suggested that there is a possible son of Sherlock Holmes named "Nero". Which is interesting when you consider that Leonard Nimoy once played the character of Sherlock Holmes and Spock mentions in Star Trek VI that he is an ancestor of Holmes.
