My cat keeps peeing on things!

What do you have for a litter box, RoJoHen?

I had this problem with my cat after a move. During that time, I was away from home a lot to take care of my ill mother. One of my cats, who was well housebroken, started peeing around the house. She was definitely upset with me. The solution came down to litter boxes. At that time, I used small, covered litter boxes. Cats don't like those. I got rid of the covers, leaving one litter box per floor of my house. But the real solution was "the beach". I got one of those big plastic containers you slide under your bed to hold winter clothes. It's three feet long, maybe 15" wide and 6" deep. I threw away the top and filled it with over 100 lbs. of kitty litter. My cat loves it. She does 95% of her business on "the beach". It's also so big I only have to clean it once a week in the winter and maybe once a month in the summer, when my cats normally go outside. That's the other thing. Make sure you clean your litter boxes offen. If they are dirty, a cat will look to pee elsewhere.

It's just a regular old litter box. It's on the larger side of things. No cover. And she uses it all the time. It's just the random times that she finds my dirty laundry on the floor that she decides to pee there as well.

My sister's cat always was crazy but lately (by that I mean about a year) she took to peeing on my sister's bed. It might well have had to do with her masters splitting up, but she keeps doing it after the husband moved out and she's back in her mistress's good graces. (Aforementioned habit, I guess.)

She had been frustrated and in need of affection. She also did it on my bed last time I kept her for a week - 3 times in the week! I got wise and covered the bed, but uncovered it upon coming home from a long day of work, went to the bathroom, and when I came back, discovered she had peed on the bed while I was peeing!! Naughty, crazy cat. I wonder why I kept her litter clean every day. We had gotten along so well the time before (which was unusual).

At least twice out of three she waited until I was home to commit the deed. If affection and attention is what she wanted, how could I give it when she felt guilty and defensive? You can't expect animals to be that bright, though.

I'll give my sister the smell remover advice. Although with the duvet, it is still going to be a problem. Does dry cleaning remove lingering smells for cats?

This might suit your needs tho. http://www.magic-zymes.com/personal_use.html?gclid=CJmxkqnqqZcCFRNOagodvV0tiw

We used to use a product called odo-ban. http://www.nextag.com/odo_-_ban/stores-html?nxtg=5c00a1c0515-6749F0851BCBD508

Worked wonders, we would buy it by the gallon and wash our clothing with it as well as shampoo our carpeting wipe down walls mop the floors.

Our dogs were potty training at the time and they were having a difficult time grabbing the concept. :shifty:

Is she acting nervous?

Other than taking her to the vet, I've got nothing. If it was a male (glares at Owen), I'd say it was territory marking.

Cats will feel anxiety, (and scent mark) if they sense a new family member is on the way. ;)

Thank you IceHoneyRose! We can try to find the local equivalent.
Although my sister informs me that the cat has stopped her bed-wetting (no competition or daily squabbles any more). Can't say the same of the youngest kid, though... Maybe that stuff will be of use after all.
