Be it classic or recent, you watch it to death, love it like crazy, and yet your mind can't stop seeing that one off-scene, the discontinuity that even allowing for this that and the other thing can't shut out. Here's my top one, and here's hoping for some of yours. Oh--and one request. If there turns out to be an in-story explanation for the nit, or if the poster has missed something obvious, be kind. I once posted about a Woody Woodpecker cartoon, and you'd think I'd assigned authorship of ST to George Lucas, to hear some of the talk.

Okay. My first one is 'Frosty The Snowman'. Santa comes and rescues Frosty. They fly off in his sleigh, and all is cool. Except for dear little Karen. Not only is she left in the middle of a wilderness many miles from home, but she's on top of the glass greenhouse roof! Her choices aren't very good - either stay on top and freeze or slide/slip/jump off and get injured or die. Now, it can be inferred that the greenhouse had an owner who checked on their flowers, or that the animals helped her out, or like that. But in-story, she is simply left there. Somebody page Seth Green, because this looks like an easy one for Robot Chicken.

That always bothered me too. I always felt they'd sacrificed her or something. Very unsettling, even as a kid.

How Yukon Cornelius survived the fall off the cliff with the Yeti in the 1964 version of Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer.

In Die Hard (yes, my favourite Xmas movie) at one point German terrorist Hans (albeit played by a Brit) tells German terrorist Karl (albeit played by a Russian) "schiess dem fenster" (shoot the windows) but Karl just looks baffled until Hans says "Shoot the glass" in English.

WTF? A German that doesn't understand German?

I don't get your issue with that. They explain that later. "Bumbles bounce". Yukon Cornelius clearly landed on the Bumble Snowman who bounced, saving his life.

That's just silly. No being of flesh and blood can simply bounce from a fall from a cliff. What do people think this is, a children's show?

I always took it that Karl didn't hear Hans the first time, and thus said it twice, though conveniently for the english-speaking audience they said it in english second time round.

And Hans didn't bounce when he fell from the building, he just went splat!

Been ages since I've seen it, but I had thought Santa dropped her off on her OWN roof.

Granted, not a whole lot better, she's still on a friggin' roof, but...

It seems you are correct. But, not only was it still a roof, but that of a two or three story house, in a snowy season.

Still say this is ripe for Robot Chicken.

haha, I've always thought that was weird as well, but my interpretation was that he used the English for effect because Karl didn't understand the meaning of the request when he first said it. Something like "why am I going to shoot the glass?" So Hands forced the issue.

Or maybe because what he says in German doesn't mean "shoot the glass" and doesn't even make much sense. ;)
