Official Trailer Review & Comments Thread!! [Spoilers, of course]

Here's me showing up fashionably late to this party

I just saw the second trailer..... Oh my fucking god, I can not wait for this film!! It looks amazing. I wasn't really sold after the first trailer, but this has one totally juiced me up. It is going to be awesome.

I was offered no critique, just nit picking at spelling...

The bulk of your original post advanced the notion that this movie will revitalize the franchise. And while I think that's an optimistic notion, it's certainly the one intended by both Abrams and Paramount Studios. If it does, there's a good reason for fans of the original show to worry that the cornerstones of the show they enjoyed may be wiped away in favor of fast editing and more explosions. The whole "more like Star Wars" motif Abrams scared a few fans with some time ago.

If this movie fails to revitalize the franchise, that will almost certainly be because it gets blown away at the box office. Make no mistake, the franchise will be seriously wounded if this movie doesn't do well. It'll be worse off than when NBC cancelled TOS back in 1969.

So for people who see bad choices in set design, or a lack of attention to Trek lore and history in other details, this film isn't as exciting as it is for you. I'm on the fence ... but I started out VERY excited. Recent revellations are pushing me closer to doubters, but I'm hoping the story -- the element missing from the trailers we've seen so far -- redeems design inconsistencies (or perhaps explains them). Honestly, if this movie is fun, exciting, and smart, I'll happily set aside my objections to building the Enterprise on the ground. But a lot of what I've seen so far suggests this may be less than the film Star Trek fans have been waiting for. And there are a few details out there that have me thinking the average movie-goer won't like what they see, either.

xan82, it seems that you even replied to this post. Three paragraphs to YOU and not one mention of spelling.:wtf:

Go back a little further... you will find nothing but "Jean" and "Gene" arguments and cyber bullying...

Go back to the Pleistocene era and you will find Woolly Mammoths, but there are Elephants now.

Yes, yes, yes, you were gravely wronged, but subsequent to that there was an apology and additional argument. In internet time, those posts are ancient history. Psion has moved beyond that. Please do the same.

^ I don't think we can assume that all of those shuttles will be going to the Enterprise; I think only the one on the near end of the row on the left is clearly identified by the registry number. But yeah -- lots of people being moved out at once.

Right. And if two shuttles are assigned each orbiting ship (from the promo pic) then potentially some five or six starships are being serviced. Can't wait to see if we can read off some other ship numbers later!

When Harry described this scene over at www.aintitcool.com some months ago (Abrams showed it to him at the studio) he said that it came across as a kind of "galactic Pearl Harbor" - lots of recruits being assigned to various ships and moved out in a hurry.

[slowmo]Noooooooooooooo![/slowmo]

I can't wait to see what the Narada Ship replica really looks like, cause at the

moment I have pictured in my head something one would buy from an Adult World store!!

Mmmm, me wants toy Shuttlecraft.
I haven't seen the shuttlecraft named in any of the toy reports yet, but it would be an unfortunate omission if someone didn't have one out by the movie release date.

Ooooh they better or someone loses their head! :scream:

Fantasy report: They bring back Micromachines for a special Star Trek 2009 run!

EDIT: Oh hey, you guys gotta check this out:

http://movies.yahoo.com/trailers/
The teaser is even back in the top ten, and the theatrical is only topped by... Harry Potter.
Doin pretty good. :D
