Well la de da. Have fun being better than everyone else.
Squiggy, this is the second thread today in Misc where you are needlessly stirring the pot and it's getting real old. All this does is create more trouble (just like in the thread I closed earlier today in which you were a principle player.) If this is TNZ driven, I'm going to issue warnings in the future if I see it. DO NOT drag your TNZ rivalry issues into this forum.

I'm not bringing TNZ into this and I'll thank you not to assume that it is. I get tired of people who don't drink or don't do a certain thing to think that they're superior to anyone else. Smugness irritates me.

Who ever things they can "accidentally" get drunk doesn't know enough about the topic to offer a valid opinion.

It is quite possible. One can have the intention not to become drunk and yet do so anyway.

Also, I must add you grow offended far to easily. The opening post asked a question, and I answered it. You did not have to respond.

I voted Occasionally during the week. Usually on weekends. But in truth it's more like Occasionally during the week. Occasionally on weekends.

This is where I'm at too.

I never go to bars. Can't remember the last time I went to a bar, to be honest, unless it was a restaurant to eat.

And because I don't get drunk, it's kinda irrelevant whether I have a given drink on the weekend or during the week.

I'd say I have about 4 - 5 drinks a month, if you include everything from a little Bailey's in my coffee on a cold day to a shot of tequila after I get off the phone from another exceedingly annoying conversation with my boss (or my with my mother - they are interchangeable in the 'annoying individual' department.

Of course it is, one can also have the intention to watch Star Trek but end up watching Desperate Housewives……

If you make a decision it isn't necessary to stick with it, you know, it is possible to change your mind!

I got pretty ripped last night! I can't say there's any regularity to my drinking habits. Sometimes I like to have a beer or a scotch on the rocks at the end of the day, sometimes I drink to excess with friends. Sometimes either of those things will occur multiple times in a week or sometimes not happen for several at a time.

I never intend to drink alchohol. The smell alone is enough to make me want to gag. The taste isn't much better, either.

Your point being?
That it's a (somewhat) conscious decision, not something that happens by accident.
Personally I swing both ways ;)

That's not what I heard :D
I protest, that quote was taken out of context!

Funny, but I was going to respond to trekkiedane with, "We know." :p

And we're back on track…

I tend to have a glass of wine or sherry about 3 or 4 times per week, and several glasses of wine at a sitting about once or twice a week on average. I don't really get properly drunk these days though. Maybe about once or twice a year I guess.

I don't trust people who won't let go every now and then. I wonder what they've got leashed up inside, that they are so afraid. That makes me afraid... of them. One good rousing drunk a year is enough for me. I consider it a purgative, like the Red Hour on "Archons."

I usually drink during the weekends since that's when i am out with friends. So pretty much, i am a social drinker. And maybe a glass of whatever wine i have in my room.

Maybe, but there are a lot of people out there who start out drinking not wanting to intoxicate themselves but eventually become drunk due to a failure to realize their own limitations.

I am not abrogating their responsibility, but just pointing out that many people have less self-control than they realize.

I agree with that. I know that for myself I don't have an addictive need to drink or get drunk, but once I've started to feel intoxicated, the desire to drink more is hard to resist. It feels good, and your inhibitions are diminished.

I drink every once in a while -- I can drink a glass of wine every evening for a week, or go 3 or 4 months without any alcohol. Usually it's limited to special occasions. I'm a cheap drunk; my maximum is 2 or 3 drinks. I have had too much on two occasions: The first involved a night out at a club, when I was hugely depressed (before I started treatment for bipolar disorder). I drank two Mike's and had a handful of Xanax before going out dancing, and at the club I had four whiskey sours in the first hour. Needless to say, that was a bit much.
The second time was at my sister's bachelorette party -- the consensus is that the bar was making particularly strong drinks, because 6 out of 12 guests (including me) ended up in the emergency room with alcohol poisoning. I know my limits, and I'd had only a glass of wine at dinner and two drinks at the show (we went to a brilliant drag burlesque). The funny thing is that the entire party were wearing hot pink feather boas. Neil, the only male at the bachelorette party (he's quite feminine and considers himself his husband's "wife"), had to carry each of us one by one from the car to the er. The whole waiting room was strewn in hot pink feathers!

I drink very rarely.. havent had a drink in almost two years though.

I hate the taste of it, and I hate drunk people. I hate people making up excuses for their actions by blaming it on the alcohol, and even more people who constantly use it as an excuse, but still drinks. "I didn't do it on purpose, it's the liquor, it's not my fault..", and then proceeds to drink again and again and again.. :scream:
