Pulse phasers to compensate for the lack of photon torpedoes for some reason?
There's a vague resemblance to an Edoan but this guy has something of a sinister air, no?Wow! Thanks for the heads up, and the downloadable screen caps!

I really get a Arex the Triexian vibe from the Alien. Not exactly the same but close.
Sortof looks like species 8472. Atleast the head does. Not sure about the rest of it.
I don't know about never seen before. We've seen phasers pulsing instead of a beam, at the very least, in The Wrath of Khan. TOS visual effects never were really consistant, but they appeared to pulse at times there too.
So is there or is there not an interior shot of Kelvin's bridge?
I can't get the fwtrwtwt site to load...
though that's probably on the part of the designers of the website as opposed to being taken directly from the movie.
It looks like there are two sets of phaser emitters:
(1) The TMP-era-like red beam-firing emitters.
(2) The pop-up blue bolt-firing emitters.
I don't think we'll see the different emitters "switching" -- I think their each dedicated systems, which still makes the Defiant's weapons special.
Oh, and remember Kirk orders the phasers to be "set for proximity blast" in Balance of Terror, for whatever that's worth.
Should be better now.Can we do something bout those pics stretching the thread?

The Enterprise fired pulse phasers before in the original series episode, Balance of Terror.
Although canon doesn't apply to this movie and I don't really care either way, But before ENT came along, I thought the general concensus was that early TOS and pre-TOS era ships used Lasers. Have we pretty much nullified that as not canon because it was only mentioned in one episode? The first time I saw the turrets on the Kelvin I thought that they were probably laser emitters because of the era, but now I see that they went with phasers afterall.
The Kelvin looks pretty good for a single-nacelle ship.
That has always been fan speculation. No one involved in the film has ever suggested that the film starts in the 24th century.since the kelvin is sposeta be the opening scene of the movie does that mean the movie doesnt really start in 24th century?
