True. It fit well in that program though. For me it was like a Thank You to the Fringe fans, many of whom will see the movie.

My mom lives with me since her stroke. We watch tv together in the evenings. We never miss Fringe... mom has become a fan,too, after humoring me for the first episode. When she saw the trailer she said it moves too fast to catch it all (she will be 70 in January so it is understandable), but said it looks very good.
Our viewing schedule also includes Ghost Hunters, Are You Smarter Than A Fifth Grader?, Don't Forget the Lyrics and TNG. We can't find TOS-R this season. Seeker is on instead which sucks.
So I'm totally new to this forum but I've been a longtime trek fan. I watched TOS in syndication as a kid and loved it, watched TNG throughout its run, loved most of the movies, and slowly gave up on DS9 and Voyager in the 90's.
All of those movies and series' looked and felt widely different from each other to the point where they didn't seem to take place in the same universe. But I rationalized it in the way that my childhood memories now feel so out of place with my current life that I find it odd that they happened to me and not to someone else.
I feel the same way about this new trailer. I saw that first picture of the new ship and was initially disgusted with what I saw. But looking at the movie trailer and seeing the ship in action(ever so briefly), I think they got it right. Even so, I'm happy to accept the movie as a complete reboot which I think many diehard fans will also.
But when I saw that ship blasting into warp speed, I didn't see some shameful mockery of the past. I saw the Enterprise.

Saw the same thing. They also aired it last night with Terminator (ironically.) I also hope they air this trailer or maybe future TV spots during House maybe to push the Jennifer Morrison angle.
Weren't you paying attention? The wife cracks earned a warning too, but a trolling warning, not a flaming warning. So it's still out of line.

YES I was paying attention (ahead of the mods apparently), but I'm trying to get my head around why it was just a trolling warning and not a flame warning. The idea that this board is setup to protect idiots (and meanspirited folks who would malign parents and children and whathaveyou) seems seriously seriously wrong to me.
You can only flame a poster... Trolling is a much larger net and covers wide ranges of douche baggery and other "school yard fight" type things. So it wasn't flaming to make the wife comment because she is not a poster, but it was trolling. see... I know, Some of us wanted better defined roles for those rules back in the day and were always shot down.

They did get warned for trolling. Does it really matter what they get warned for? A warning's a warning.
Guys that's enough in here about the warnings. Any additional talk on that front will result in more being handed out. I would prefer to not have to do that. Let's get back on topic.
On Topic: Was Nimoy shown in the trailer? I don't think I saw him, which is kind of weird. You'd think he would be a draw to see the film for those that recognize him.

Nope... some have theorized that he's the pilot of the time ship seen in the trailer, but no definitive conclusion can be reached from the visual evidence provided at this time.
It really looked like Nimoy with Winona Ryder. To me, at least. But I just saw it, so this may have been debunked.
I have decided, though: if Nero isn't actually working for Future Guy--that is, if this movie isn't just an enormous, roundabout, backdoor way to give Enterprise a proper sendoff--then I will withhold several roses from the bouquet I am sending J.J. Abrams.

I've not read spoilers, so there's probably some things in that trailer that I didn't fully understand or appreciate.
Having said that, I can think of two Star Trek trailers which were so promising and impressive that they gave me chills. This the the only one that made me roll my eyes.
