Legend of the Seeker anyone?

yep, didn't love episode 3, it didn't really feel like it went anywhere. Maybe it's been a while since I read the first book, but things feel like they've taken a big departure already, so not sure where we're going here.

In the book, Zed stayed behind healing for a while, leaving Richard and Kahlan some alone time, right? And then they eventually headed to the Mud People?

Add in the stuff about the book of counted shadows, and the barrier, and we're already way off the reservation, and it makes it more of a campy fantasy show rather than one related to the book series. On top of all this, when he was reading out of that book, it's not supposed to be because he is the Seeker, but because he's already got magic (war wizard). Seems like the sort of thing Zed should have mentioned, especially since Richard hadn't actually been annointed Seeker yet, so if it was from Seeker power, it was power had yet to receive...

At some point, Richard should probably get that lesson about how to use the sword, and why it does what it does, right? Another integral point dropped because kewl swordfights are more fun to watch...

Those are all good points. We are quite a way from Wizard's First Rule now, but I can't say I care all that much. I like Zedd, so I'm glad he's around, and I can't remember much happening for the next two or three-hundred pages that would make for very good episodes.

I thought the 3rd ep moved the story along quite nicely(bad acting aside).
However, i would like to see a little more from the books played out on screen.

I tried watching some of it. For about half an hour. Bad acting, bad writing, and bland.

I can't really argue with those statements. Although I think the acting isn't unforgiveably bad, especially by the leads. If the writing were better, I think you'd forgive the acting.

They really have to lighten up on the slow mo. Good god is it ever heavy handed.

I noticed Mike Sussmans name in the credits. I had no idea he was involved in this show.

Yeup, this is how I feel. The writing has some truly terrible moments that are going to throw off just about any actor. the production design isn't bad, the effects are passable and the direction is surprisingly solid, but I'm still not sold on anyone but Kahlan and the writing only accentuates their lacking performances.

I'm filing it under 'post-barcrawl guilty pleasure' for now.

^Not TOO much, not when the book is 800 pages, give or take. And that explains some fluff, but not some of the larger changes (like that pesky little book that got burned).

That's definitely been the biggest drag so far for me. It's not really acting like Wizard's First Rule (or any of the series), but more just generic genre piece with familiar names. It's just a dude with a sword running around with a hot chick and a wizard. When the plot begins to look more familiar, I may be more interested. Right now, they're only a couple episodes in, and it already feels like they are winging it and stalling...

Considering there will be 22 episodes and the entire book was dedicated to the wizards first rule, people will believe anything... there is most certainly after 4 episodes down another 18 episodes to get this rule mentioned time and time again...

and then off to the wizards second rule...

they spend the entire episode this last weekend to reinforce one thing... the whole episode never happened in the book save for one piece of information necessary to the book.... darth vader is lukes father... err... zed is richard raul's (cypher's) grandfather...

I hear ya on the slow-mo. Rumor has it Neo made a mistake when he plugged into The Matrix...he was really plugging into New Zealand instead.

Sussman was one of Enterprise's finest writers. I have no doubt that Seeker is a better show with his talent aboard.

Did anyone catch this weekend's episode of Legend of the Seeker? It was written by Mike Sussman. I thought it was a pretty good episode! I love the way the attraction is building between Richard and Kahlan. I'm really starting to root for them as a couple!

The guy she confessed really cracked me up, too! :D Did anyone else watch?

liked this week's a bit better, as they're at least moving the plot a little this time. It's on an alternate track, but at the moment moving in the same direction as the book was (with Kahlan about to run off because she's afraid she's going to betray him)...

Still not wild about some of the changes that have been made that just seem random (for example, the Book of Counted Shadows, and all that goes with it. They should also have been with the Mud People long before now, and they play a pretty big part in several of the books...), but we'll see where they end up before I get too steamed over it...

Well I finally got caught up on all the episodes. It is starting to grow on me a little more. I still think some of the changes are a bit too much but I'm willing to give it a chance. It was nice to see Shota and the box of Orden show up.

With the next episode entitled "Denna" I will definitely be tuning in to see what they do with this piece of the story. The events with Denna are a pretty major part of the books so I hope they don't change things too much.
