Official Trailer Review & Comments Thread!! [Spoilers, of course]

Anyone from the UK going to the cinema today?

Please report if the trailer is showing. Please, please.

Sounds awesome. Can't wait for it to come on-line so the over analyzing of screencaps can begin (again)!

Hmmm...droids...on hoverbikes. Star Wars Trek.

I think it's pretty awesome they're building the ship on the ground. It's kinda like that book: Flag Full of Stars. Kinda crappy book, but the launch was pretty neat. (Yes, I know it was just the saucer)

[*]Constitution-class starships are ... alas ... built on the ground.

Really, was there even the slightest doubt this would be the case since the ST:XI teaser was released?

*sigh*

TGT, resigned

I remember most users claiming that the teaser footage was not going to be in the movie, giving examples how this has happened with other movies.

How it was just to make the point that Trek is under construction etc etc

Yes there was doubt. Lots of it

Relax. A "the-Enterprise-is-built-on-the-ground" can't sneak into your house and rape you.

Well, if you buy into all the 'built on ground is fine cuz this is 23rd century' nonsense, then one would have to think, 'maybe by the 23rd century you can build a starship on the ground that can stealthily mount a human opponent from behind ... it is THE FUTURE , y'know, and it is star trek so anything is possible.'

Pardon me while I spit bile.

KHM, not resigned, merely rebuffed

Oh my good griefer. THAT was the most hilarious thing I've read all week, :guffaw:for the bizarre imagery! As opposed to the ships built in orbit, which have no way of sneaking in and raping you.

Seriously though, if I'd gone to Bond expecting a Trek trailer and it didn't show, I would have been mighty piiiiiiissed. :klingon: But only one poster so far had such an experience. They seem like reasonably good odds.

Ditto, anyone in the UK, particularly London?

It should be playing in the big screen at the Empire, Leicester Square.

But, people, if you're wondering if it's playing on your local screen, ask the cinema! They'll know exactly what trailers are playing in which screens, thus saving you from wasting your time and money.

I can't wait till the trailer comes online. So far all I've seen is the ship, the bridge, and some cast photos.

Maybe I am just extremely impatient, but shouldn't we have seen a bootleg version of this puppy by now????

The Enterprise being built on Earth makes for a great visual, though, when the camera POV is someone on the ground - presumably Kirk, at least as the trailer is cut together - looking up at it.

The angle is breathtaking and the ship is majestic; it's like looking at a huge monument as it's being constructed. I thought of the Statue of Liberty, for no good reason.

As I said, the cutting-together of the trailer presents this as if Kirk is looking up at the Enterprise for the first time - it's really damned effective at communicating what you would imagine Kirk might feel, much more so than a straight replay of the inspection fly-around in orbit could be at this point.

Must admit, the new "Star Trek" movie full trailer is epic and definitley feels right. I saw it, and it was awesome!

This Star Trek will be able to appeal to all those who don't know Star Trek. That is what it is truly about. I think Gene Roddenberry would like this.

All the debates on the ship design etc.. are really pointless. The fact that we have a new Enterprise that looks realistic is something to be happy about alone.

We are finally going to have a truly believable "Star Trek" next May.

Out of curiosity, how long would you say the trailer is? A minute?

Space battle wise, how many ships? Who was fighting who?

Just curious :)
