My wife and I are going through the (truncated) second season of "Heroes" and, seeing that Sylar amazingly survived his near fatal injuries from Hiro's sword at the end of the first season, I am more reminded than ever just how creepy of a villain he is.
He is somewhat of a misbegotten villain with some major pathos to be sure but the instant he is seen walking into a room somewhere you just know that somebody is going to DIE, it's just a matter of who and what power he is going to steal/absorb next. He seems so crafty, manipulative, and smart that vanquishing him for good seems like it is going to be a monumental feat for the "good" heroes.
Sylar, at least for me, is one of the creepiest villains that I think I've ever seen on a TV show or perhaps even in the movies (although Samarra from "The Ring" comes pretty close). Even Darth Vader (ESB), who used to be my "boogeyman" from my childhood fails to hold a candle to Sylar's ability to flat out creep me out as an adult.
I do wonder, however, how exactly he is able to gain other people's powers and just how many powers he will ultimately able to absorb (I wonder if his obession with gaining new powers and becoming more "special" is eventually going to be his downfall?).
I hope that we will also eventually get to see Peter and Sylar fight again (I mean a REAL fight). Aside from their battle with each other in Hiro's alternative future (which was VERY chilling), their "battle" with each other at the end of the first season turned out to be rather tame and somewhat anti-climatic considering everything that had happened up to that point.
Thoughts? Opinions? *no spoilers please
