4 Clip descriptions from Empire *Spoiler heavy*

We never saw any ships which didn't reuse the Enterprise model, so are they the only starships which starfleet had?

We never saw Starfleet command, or the Federation Headquaters or President, does that mean they didnt exist.

Just because the Movies or TOS didn't show or mention something, does not mean it didn't exist...

I can only pray that these extreme nitpickers and naysayers just stay the hell home when the movie comes out, because they'll taint my enjoyment of this movie.
I agree! I am not going to see the movie on opening week for this very reason. I do not want to sit in a theatre of people and listen to idiots boo and shout out things when there is something on the screen they don't like. As excited as I am, I may just avoid the whole thing altogether and wait until it comes out on DVD so I can watch it in the peace of my own home.

I believe the Federation president was in ST:IV and also in ST:VI.

Man, you'd think Scotty offing Porthos would have raised more eyebrows than a friggin drink.

Oh yeah, and the most important thing:

What does the Enterprise look like?! Argh I wish they had mentioned that.

I'm guessing it looks enough like the Enterprise that it's not worth mentioning in an article not geared to you know, us. ;)

Enterprise is beautiful (although I have issues with the interiors). Instantly recognisable, but with a darker colouring (ala, the 'Koernerprise'), and a few new details:

- Small torpedo tubes in the same location as the refit

- A thicker neck

- Slightly curved (upwards) nacelle pylons

I think the exterior of the ship will be the thing that most people will be happy with.

Curved pylons from the from the front view of of the ship? So instead of a V shape, more of a U? Interesting.

So how about those big fan blade things on the Nacelles in the trailer, are they still there on the final model of the ship?

I couldn't resist, and read the scene summaries that were posted. I guess we now have an answer to the mystery of Kirk's black uniform (he's brought aboard the Enterprise as McCoy's patient, not an officer).

The scenes that were described are difficult to judge, because they're out-of-context and we don't know how they all relate to the film's story. Personally, I'm having a hard time figuring out exactly how old Kirk is when he finally gets command of the Enterprise, how long he'd been serving in Starfleet, and how old the Enterprise is supposed to be. I worry that Kirk might just be too young when he becomes a Captain in this film. But I'll reserve judgement until the film opens.

Even though I don't personally give a shit about the drink "violation," I think the Porthos thing is not raising eyebrows because:

1) It's not a canon violation (well, okay it is but that's super nitpicky.)

and

2) It's funny as hell

Poor Porthos! I really liked that cute little beagle. He was one of the few enjoyable characters on Enterprise, which doesn't say much for the actual bipedal, speaking cast, does it?

*raises a glass* Porthos, we hardly knew ye.

The upward curve of the nacelles is very subtle, you'd have to be looking from straight ahead or behind to notice.

The fan blades are, as expected, behind the nacelle caps. I didn't see them in action in the clips, but I saw some production art that proved it.

Oh please, we can just start assembling avatars denying Porthos died and wait for Pocket Books to completely contradict it with a novel of what "actually" happened.

On second thought, maybe they should actually be useful and do such a novel for this movie.

I can't say I recall ever seeing a Cardassian on Enterprise. Can you point to the episode?

There was a Cardassian extra in The Seventh.

Actually, no. There was a Cardassian wired up to that sentient space station in Dead Stop. And the Organian posessing Mayweather in Observer Effect mentioned Cardassians.

Well, this could mean two things: Starfleet was well aware of the Cardassian presence in the galaxy, OR one of them just happened to be on that sentient station ("We need another alien guy! Who do we use?" "We've got this Cardassian make-up ready!" "Okay, use that; who cares? Not like anyone will notice.") and the Organians were aware of their existence while Starfleet wasn't.

Either way, their mention in this movie is about as worrisome to me as a cloudy day.

Okay. There was an extra in The Seventh who looked a hell of a lot like a Cardassian. Care to tell me what he was?

After reading that I am even more excited about this movie, I can't wait! Sounds like it will be awesome and a complete fan wank!

Well it seems from your reports that the ship is pretty similar to the TOS one with some updates for feature film, which is good, because it will be nice to see the old girl on the big screen.

Seeing as how you are one of the few to see the ship, are you doing a write up for Trekmovie or something similar?

I know what we should do...

We'll tell The Next Generation origin story. The whole gang will go to the academy at the same time. Except Jean-Luc who will go last. The Enterprise-D will be built under the Atlantic Ocean at a Ford Factory... because that'll be cool. The first time Jean-Luc (as a cadet to take command) steps onto the bridge Tasha Yar will be at tactical... even though technically she shouldn't even have been born yet.

Now... none of these would be issues if they stated that they were doing a TNG re-boot. Though a bit retarded... everyone I work with isn't the same age and we all didn't go to college together.

But when this project started we were told that it would fit into existing continuity.

Don't know, but I confirmed on Memory Alpha the two times I mentioned were the only times Cardassians were in Enterprise.

I would be highly surprised if "Admiral Archer's beagle" is the same Porthos from ST:E, since I don't know of many dogs with a 110 year life span.
