Best Put-Downs!

Worf to the Duras Sisters in First Born:

Sisters complain about their honor being insulted...Worf says to Future Alexander, "One cannot tarnish a rusted blade."

I love that full scene in This Side of Paradise. Thanks for that one, Jeri.

"Now's as good a time as any to tell you. Your ceiling is hideous." Neelix in Phage
It's the ultimate Trek put-down scene, IMO. :) VOY does have a lot of good put-downs -- the Doctor's alone could probably fill a small volume.

From Liaisons...

Data: I have heard that in moments of diplomatic tension, it is often helpful to find elements of commonality.
Worf: Ambassador Byleth is...demanding, temperamental and rude!
Data: You share all of those qualities in abundance. Perhaps you should try to build on your similarities.

Leeta: "I have brains!"

Quark: "Haha, sure you do, that's why I hired you...now, eat up and then take those brains (gestures towards her breasts) back to the Dabo wheel, where the customers can get a good long look at them"

Not actually an insult, but one of my favorite lines...

"I stood toe-to-toe with the worst of the three, and I told him what I thought of him, his pals, his planet, and I possibly made some passing reference to his questionable parentage."

Picard, "Samaritan's Snare" [audio]

"You're on your way to being normal, although I'm not sure how normal applies to a species who suppress all their emotions." The Doctor in Meld

Quark in "Rapture": "I begged Chief O'Brien to have Rom look at my holosuites. But he said he needs to work on the sensor array. Anyone can fix the sensor array. But no one knows the holosuites like that idiot brother of mine. So the one who should be arrested for negligence is Chief O'Brien."
Odo: "Tell it to the magistrate."

Odo: "Tampering with the communications system is a class-3 offense."
Quark: "At least I didn't put one in Ops."
Odo: "I'm sure the magistrate will take that into account when he calculates your fine."
"The Quickening":

I think the rest of that is gold due to in no small part to how well we know Kira.

"If all your 'little advertisements' aren't purged from our systems by the time I get back from the Gamma Quadrant, I will come to Quarks, and believe me, I will have fun."

A couple from Generations:

"Human females are so repulsive!" Lursa

"Actually, I am familiar with history, Captain, and if I'm not mistaken, you're dead" Soran

Hmm. There was a similar exchange in Encounter at Farpoint where Picard asked if they (humanity) was going to be denied space travel. Q's response was that they would be denied existence.

Oh well..... Onward.

Nope, that was AGT, but that scene took place in Q's courtroom from EaF. Maybe that's why you're confusing the two? :)

Rewatch EaF and you'll understand what I mean.

I rewatched it fairly recently and I'm still not quite sure what you mean. Q puts humanity on trial for the crime of being a "dangerous, savage, child race" and tells Picard to turn back and return to Earth. Picard invites Q to test him and his crew as representatives of humanity. At no point did Q threaten to destroy the human race.

From AGT:

Q: "It's time to put an end to your 'trek' through the stars, make room for other more worthy species."
Picard: "You're... going to deny us travel through space?"
The court laughs.
Q (laughing): "No! No! You obtuse piece of flotsam. You are to be denied existence. Humanity's fate has been sealed, you will be destroyed."
Picard: "Q, I do not believe that even you are capable of such an act."

:)

I brought down bigger men than you, Picard!

Quark: "...He needs a woman with a body and brains."
Leeta: "I have brains."
Quark: "Sure you do, honey. That's why I hired you. Now, eat up and then take those brains (gestures to her ample bosom) back to the dabo wheel where the customers can get a good long look at them."

Iamnotspock:

Yes, it's true that Q says humanity will be destroyed in All Good Things but doesn't explicitly say so in Encounter At Farpoint. However, Q set in motion the anti-time anomaly, and then set Picard bouncing through time, to give him an opportunity to save humanity from destruction. "The continuum didn't think you had it in you, but I did," Q says after Picard solves the paradox with help from the past and future Enterprises.

Since we're talking about Q, I love it in Tapestry when he says that the alternate Picard, the one who didn't get stabbed by the Nausicaan and wound up as a junior astrophysics officer, "he never, ever, got noticed by anybody!"

Yes, I know. That's what I'm saying.
