Your short list for The 11th Doctor

I really think Richard Armitage would be a great Doctor, though with Robin Hood and Spooks among other things, I doubt he'll have the time. Maybe he could be the twelfth Doctor!

I see the guy who played the Doctor in "Last of the Time Lords" name is in the press again, this after he was briefly considered by the press/rumour for the companion.

Can the press stop casting actors have already been in Doctor Who, and come up with someone new.

re Jamie Winston: I already suggested her somewhere, I think it was on this forum

My choices would be Colin Salmon, not too famous but a good actor; or Kris Marshall. Marshall has the range to play the Doctor I think, has done both humour and serious.

I've heard he's a bit of an arrogant bugger, I'd rather have Marc Warren to be honest.

I still think Armstrong from Armstrong and Miller could be a good Doc.

^ how would you explain that the Doctor is the voice of Mr Smith?

Wouldn't be against Marc Warren, that said he is ANOTHER actor who has already been in Doctor Who.

Wow, there sure is a lot of snappy responses to my posts... Something wrong with having an individual opinion?

I haven't said anyone was gay... nor have I suggested that being gay is somehow 'lesser' than being heterosexual. That's people doing their usual pathetic attempts at discrediting another's POV by putting words in their mouths, exaggerating the impact of words and so forth. I haven't said Eddie Izzard is gay either, (and even if I had said it directly, where did I say 'gay = bad'? I didn't - someone else implied that though and implied I'd suggested it...) but there is no denying that he does put forth that characteristic in his dealings. To be honest, that guy makes me laugh hard, with some of the stuff he comes out with. I remember seeing him live once, and I could barely contain myself from laughing at the solid points he made which we tend to ignore on a daily basis - but when you examine the logic behind them, they're pretty amusing.

One I do agree with though was the Collin Baker comeback, you're right - he didn't act feminine, but his wardrobe certainly emitted that persona for him. Also, being black isn't a problem for me. Who's to say whether I'm white, black or yellow? More assumptions by the looks of things.

Might I suggest to folks, instead of having childish knee-jerk reactions to my posts, why not try being adults - and actually see what I'm writing instead of putting words in my mouth and then pretending I said something I hadn't.

This is a conversation: you express your individual opinion, we express ours, we share notes, we tally the victims. That's how it works for everybody.

Welcome to TrekBBS.

**Although having said that, this place isn't as bad for reading comprehension as, say, Gametrailers. Holy fuck that place is retarded.

It took me a while to not get pissed off in here and just laugh about it. I once had a very tongue in cheek avatar about Russell T. Davies' "crimes against sci-fi" and you wouldn't believe the pages of nonsense and whinging it caused. Even after I'd outright said "it's a joke".

And I still love that avatar. It was a joke and a damned funny one at that.

And these forums are far more welcoming than others I've seen.

Colm Meaney.

How about an Irish Doctor for once ?

If David Tennant felt the need to hide his Scots accent, Meaney would probably have to tone down his Irish... (although I dunno why this would be necessary since Sylvester McCoy clearly did not hide his own accent)

I would probably pick Colin Salmon.
