Yeah, the regular long snapper suffered a torn ACL. They used a linebacker as an emergency snapper. I still have to wonder why the just didn't use their regular center though. A punter doesn't set up that much farther back than a QB in the shotgun formation.

Did anyone catch Mike Singletary's post-game tirade against his players "We canNOT give them the game!". The man was always one of the msot intense ever on the field... and I wonder if he's going to be one of the most on a coaching staff as well. I hope he does well with the Niners, not that I care for the team. But I like Singletary. A intelligent class-act and also a hard-nosed intense player. My kind of guy!

^^OK. All I knew was the TV announcers kept saying that it was a back-up long snapper, so I was just assuming that they had a dedicated backup for that.

Downtown is going to suck tonight. There is a celebrity motivational speaker seminar intown with Rudy Giulianni, Colin Powell and many more. That will be letting out at nearly the same time that people are rolling into downtown for MNF!

Its going to be a mad house cause the stadium and the arena(where the seminar is) are on opposite sides of a 10 block area of the entertainment district so its going to be chaotic.

Mike Singletary - Here to save the 49ers season at last?

Ok, maybe that's a bit extreme but in a really bad loss yesterday, he made the loss secondary by marking his territory. He made his mark and let everyone know who was running the ship. That press conference (While Coors Light worthy, but not in the infamous "The Bears are Who We Thought they were" sense) was fantastic. He nailed everything right on the money and his formula for success: Hitting people in the mouth, not being a charity, and not being above the team. It was quite refreshing to hear after always dealing with the blandness that was Mike Nolan.

I'm looking forward to seeing if Singletary can get what he says on the field, but right now he has a wide leash. He commands respect and I really like that. Hopefully we see some of that on the field in the coming weeks. They may lose out or lose most of their games, but they don't have much to do to just improve. I guess right now that's all I ask.

Also, the stuff he did to Davis and O'Sullivan was great. Davis is a punk, and until he acts like a player in this league, he will always be a punk. As for JTO, he sucks, and it's time for the Shaun Hill era to continue. He can't be any worse right?

There was some good discussion on Dan Patrick this evening, about whether Singletary did the right thing. At question is whether his approach will work at the professional level, given their egos and contracts and the like. Maybe with a ayoung team, but then what do you do when they become more veteran? I don't mind the calling out so much, though.

Sad not a bit of conversation about the MNF game. The only undefeated team in the league.

Singletary at least has the skins on the wall as a player to back his talk up. In his prime, he was considered one of the most dominant linebackers to play the game. Remember the "Eyes of Mike Singletary" that were always featured when he played?

I think the bigger question is what is the shelf life of a coach in today's game?

I do. If nothing else, he'll light a fire under the players he does have and I suspect he won't hesitate to bench someone else if he thinks they have a "me first, team second" attitude. If he doesn't get the permanent job in SF at the end of the season, I'm sure he'll get a look from some team. I also think he'd make one hell of a college coach.

I almost got to go to the game last night. My brother had me a ticket but I was not able to go. I watched some of it on television but I was busy with work that I guess it was best that I did not go. I think I will be going to the game on the 23rd of November. That will be my first Titans game....cannot wait. GO TITANS!

Weirdly, and for no apparent reason, there's a strong regional polarization in the NFL right now. All the best teams are in the Northeast or South. All the worst teams are in the Midwest or West. In fact, every single team in the Northeast has a winning record right now.

The Cincinnati Bengals agree angrily and are leaving during the 3rd quarter!

When his team hit the Candlestick Park locker room at halftime trailing the Seahawks 20-3, Singletary called everyone to attention, dropped his pants and pointed to his rear end, to fully illustrate what the coach thought of his players' performance.
Now THIS is what the 49ers need--a coach who's going to light the fire under their asses by baring his. If nothing else, hopefully the players will respond because they don't want to see his bare ass again. :)

Sure as hell beats the pants off (pun intended) of the boring coaches like Mike Nolan who did nothing but spout the company line and manage to not produce anything worthwhile during their tenures.

the steelers ,bears and packers are midwest.

Pittsburgh is the Midwest? Meh, only if you stretch the definition somewhat. My statement works better if you just include all of Pennsylvania in the Northeast.

And I don't think either the Bears or Packers are "one of the best teams". They're not the worst either. They're just above average. I wasn't trying to suggest that every single Northeastern or Southern team was better than every single Midwestern or Western team. Just that, if you were to pick out the 7 or 8 best teams, all of them are from the Northeast or South. And if you were to pick out the 7 or 8 worst teams, all them are in the Midwest or West. For the middle-of-the-pack team, it's more of a jumble.

The Lions are dangerously close to a win today. Up by 3 going into the fourth quarter. I trust that they will still find a way to lose though. I want my 0-16 season!

Wow! Ravens come back from a huge deficit with a ri-diculous defensive display. Four 3 and outs in a row, allowing only one first down in the last 21 minutes, PLUS a Suggs interception for a TD, all with 3 of the 4 startes in the Seconday out! They scored 37 effing points! To repeat. The Baltimore Ravens scored 37 points.

Now we just need the Steelers to do us the small favor of losing to tie for first in the division! Go 'Skins!* :techman:

*Ew, now I feel dirty. :wtf:
