Diet & Fitness Support Thread

I'm thinking it's the creatine. Makes me all bloated. It's just weird because it never used to do that before about a month ago.

Hi guys,
I'm looking to get myself into shape. I'm 6'1 and weigh about 210. I'd love to be under 200, which should be easy enough to do. I was reading this article (http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/beginner_weight_training.htm) about starting out, and was wondering if anyone thought it was a good program. Essentially, I want to lose weight, tone up, and build a little muscle mass. I have a home gym that has the same setup as this one - http://fitness.manualsonline.com/manuals/mfg/weider/pro_2250.html.

If you didn't have 707 posts, I'd think that was a bot post.

Hi!

What is your bf percentage are you?

lol... no worries. I've been a board member for a long time, and getting into shape is something that I'm starting to look seriously at. Not sure what my body fat percentage is. What's the best way to find that out?

The best test is hydrostatic testing..in water...but most people don't have easy access to that, so the best way is a 7 or 9 point caliper test.

Try this instead:

I may check it out (or some other supps) some other time, but I think it's a good idea to take some time off from supplements every once in a while. Otherwise your body (or at least, MY body) develops a tolerance. I'm gonna finish off what I have, which will still probably last a about a month or so, and then I'm gonna take a few weeks off to get everything out of my system.

In other news, my sleep schedule is completely fucked. The last two workouts occurred at 5am, which happened to be right before I went to bed.

Last night I was forced to do a quick 45 min back workout: 1 warm up set: t-bar rows, 2 plates. 4 work sets, 4-6 plates, 10-12 reps; lat pull-downs: 1 warm up set, 225lbs, 4 sets, whole stack, 8-10 reps; seated machine rows: 4 sets, whole stack-300lbs.

Saturday workout: 2nd Chest day this wk..flat barbell bench press: 1 warm up set: 225lbs, 5 work sets, 315-405. 3 to 10 reps; smith machine incline press: 1 warm up set: 225, 4 work sets, 315-355lbs, 5-10 reps; dumbbell incline flyes, 4 sets, 100lbs all; Hammer Strength incline, alternate arms: 4 sets, 315lbs.

I just got back from a week in the south of France and I didn't have nearly as big a setback as I had feared. It looks like I only gained one pound. In fact I actually went down a belt notch this morning!

I went for my first workout in over a week last night and that turned out quite well too. The week off seems to have helped my rotator cuff problem and I actually increased my weights on biceps and triceps. My biceps are actually a bit sore today and that hasn't happened in a while.

Now I have 8 weeks to reach my goal of being 170 by the time I go on a Caribbean cruise this Christmas. Time to start the early morning cardio!

Leg day: Leg press: 1 warm up set: 450lbs, 2 sets 810lbs, 2 sets 990lbs 1 set 1080. Hack squat: 1 warm up: 315, 4 sets 630lbs; leg extensions: 4 sets. Seated calf raise. 4 sets, 180lbs. These are way off my best. Still getting the legs into shape.

Doing hamstrings tomorrow seperately.

^I've decided that I like doing hamstrings on back day because they end up getting worked anyway when I do deadlifts.

Just scheduled an MRI for my crappy right hip, which has not improved with rest & drugs. :(

Also started a diet, since my lack of activity has my weight steadily creeping up. No wine for me this week. Boy, am I crabby.

I have decided that since I plan to get super drunk on Halloween, as is the custom of my people, I will be post-poning the start of my new routine until next week.

RAMA - Upper body is looking good - how are your calves coming? That (and my biceps) are my hardest musclds to grow relative to the rest of me.

Also - 1000+ on the leg press? Damn. You are at a serious gym pressing serious weight. :techman: None of the 5 various leg press machines at my gym can accommodate that much weight. Do you use 100 lb plates, stack on the top.... ??

^My biceps started growing more when I stopped caring about them and focused more on the pulling exercises for my back.

Not that I can really see anything under the blob that is my fatty worthless pos body, but I concur. Since I've been on the cheat machine, my arms are growing as well.
