Yeah, when I saw a Dalek in the teaser .... I buckled myself in alright.
I like Diana Goddard, too.
A museum, complete with the head of a Cyberman!
Like Rose's slightly new hairstyle.
This guy, Stanton... heh... testosterone, ego and wealth. And he thinks Democrats are "funny". Hmmm...
NOw, a little background on the Daleks and why the Doctor is so afraid of them? Anyone?
Time war material.. check.
The reason I said the Doctor was scared was his reaction in almost pleading to be let out when he first realized what was imprisoned with him.
And yes, I know Goddard was the one who thought the Dems were funny, but Van Stanton liked the comment, so it seemed logical to make the connection.
Question.... what was the significance of Rose touching the Dalek and it coming to new life seemingly? Did that touch transmit personal knowledge of her to its memory?
Were the Daleks engineered that way, to absorb genetic material once a living being touched their armor?

Mickey seems to have done quite abit of research on the Doctor. Is he connected in any way with Clive or anyone else who has information on him?
No he's just a bit of a computer geek and for right now there's alot of infomation out there about the Doctor.
I can't say for sure, I'm not a huge fan of the original series, it's probably hard to say even if you are a big fan, because there's at least a couple of origin stories for the Daleks, and some very bad Dalek stories. But I do know (without getting too spoiler-y) there are Daleks coming up who are "different" too.I've always had the impression that the Daleks were purely evil, or at the lest purely bent on destroying anythign that was different. I suppose that's a different question, concerning the nature of "evil". However, this Dalek had a transforming moment when Rose touched it. Has there ever been a time in ant of the previous series where a Dalek was so "compromised" in its programming, if you will? A time when it wavered?

According to the online material that the BBC put up when this season was first run, Mickey took over running Clive's website after his death.
As a side note, according to the stuff on the site, Mickey decided not to run the 'cleaner' disc the Doctor gave him at the end of World War III (after all, the Beeb would have had to have taken the site down if he had...).

I seemed to recall the Doctor last night saying something about them having the feeling of hate. Is that consistent with their original portrayal in the original show, or is it a case of a slight tweaking for the new series? Rose's touch allowed the Dalek to absorb her DNA, which expanded its range of emotions. What intrigues me is whether the Daleks were originally created with the complete absence of emotion, being virtually mindless in their cleansing. Or were they given the ability to hate and accidentally also a predilection for other emotions if the right DNA were present. The original concept for the Daleks were that they Nazis, facists and they were without a conscience, so they have very little in the way of feelings to call on.
