The bridge shots (large images)

This has probably been cleared up somewhere already, but I am too lazy to go through the entire thread:

Is Kirk's chair off-center?

In the screenshot posted here? More than likely not, the photo was taken at an angle.

I really can't wait to get "on the bridge" (hopefully in the trailer next month) and get a better sense of the place. I'm liking it more and more, with a few exceptions. Sure was a shock, though.

Me too. The stills we have at the moment dont actually reveal much, apart from the chair and rear left corner. And the fact Spocks station appears to be exactly where it was in the show.

Im looking foward to it, yeah its a little misleading, but it reminds me a bit of the bridge from ST:V aswel as the one from ST:III as mentioned before, it was clean looking, a completely different set from ST:IV, larger looking and bright with flush touch panels.

I do however like the designs for Enterprise. I thought the production design for those sets was excellent. It was designed to be advanced with out looking too insanely OTT. It had subtle design elements and major design elements, but overall i liked the designs. The captains chair was alos a good take on the TOS chair.

Re: The bridge shots

Are you people that take" JJ"'s words to heart really think that he is a "fan" or does he think that he can really bring in new fans of his "reimagining"????

We already had a "fan" write us a movie, and that turned out to be a festering pile of horse manure. The dribbling Trek purists with "canon" t-shirts might enjoy another "fan" making their movie, but I'll take a real movie-makers take on Trek over that any day.

More sunday afternoon boredome killing...

Heres a newer shot.

Looking at the bigger hi-res version of Sulu, to me this looks like a bridge shot and he may be at his station. Note the possible Astogator incorporated on the bottom right. Also, along with that, it looks as if the viewer is a full heads up display this time rather than just an all purpous screen. There even looks to be a couple of lights at the base of the screen.

Now compare that to this shot which alslo looks like the bridge, take not of the new 'plexiglass' divides behind Saldana and the way the viewer curves, looks like a bridge image to me. Also showing a kind of heads up display.

The far right is a mystery though, looks like an adjacent room of some sort. I dunno, could be any room on the ship, im just winging it.;)

(Mods, not spamming intetionally, i thought it may fit in with this thread aswel, given the subject matter.)

Every time I see that shot above of the crew... I assume Spock is standing where we are viewing it from, saying something obnoxious. Bones looks perplexed and Scotty looks almost pissed.

Could be, or it could be a point in production where Pegg repeats in his head; "Please dont be Phantom Menace again, Please dont be Phantom Menace again, Please dont be Phantom Menace again, Please dont be Phantom Menace again, Please dont be Phantom Menace again, Please dont be Phantom Menace again, Please dont be Phantom Menace again, Please dont be Phantom Menace again, Please dont be Phantom Menace again, Please dont be Phantom Menace again" *

*If youve never watched Spaced or seen an interview or his writings, you missed the joke. Pegg is a massive comic book/sci-fi geek. I bet he had the biggest Squeeeeeee moment of anyone on the entire production, it probably meant more to him being in a Trek production than the paycheck he got.

Spaced is crammed with in jokes and references to Star Trek, Dr Who Star Wars, major sci-fi movies and shows and very subtle references to things such as Terminator etc etc... Oh, and Phantom Menace :guffaw:

Hell they even use Williams score from Empire to end an episode where they go looking for Marsha, its identical to the movies ending aswel.

However, see these to catch up.

Re: The bridge shots

...and any other person who knows how to write a coherent sentence and paragraph. :vulcan:

Pwned.

And that is basically what it comes down to on this board. Some don't agree with their opinion and decide to bash the other on their verbal and grammatical errors rather than the main topic(s) the poster has in discussion.

It's because no-one can understand what your opinion was from the content-free sentence you posted.

The first rule of communication is to make sure you express your point in such a way as other people can understand it. You failed.

Re: The bridge shots

No complaints here.

None here either, but then, I haven't seen anywhere near enough to form an opinion. And, given the secrecy that has surrounded this film, chances are I won't see anymore till I'm sitting in the theater next May.

They need to put those Uniforms up for sale on startrek.com as soon as
possible, I want one sooooo bad. :scream:

And I dunno... I don't think it looks very Apple at all.

GIMMEH UNIFORM!

Nah ... there've been a few times I've been able to do that in my basement. Usually during heavy rains and power failures. And it wasn't just cool, it was cold!

This is NOT a flailing, wild complaint against the movie.

Okay?

I was looking at the closeups of the uniforms, and the little nodules on them (apparently little tiny Starfleet Deltas)....

It looks like the shirts are made out of colored bubble wrap! They look much better from a distance where you can't tell there are these countless little "things" all over them.

I'd have stuck with plain, flat material. It wouldn't have been so distracting in closups.

I think it really struck me when looking at the closeup of Sulu.

It's not that it's different from the original, it's that it looks...lumpy. :p

By the way...

In the group shot...the really BIG version of it...

Did anyone notice Uhura has the Engineering "curly" symbol on her badge?

I could see what were likely stars on the guys with the gold shirts.

McCoy's wasn't at the right angle to see if it was the Vulcan symbol or not, but if we know we've got two out of three...
