Way of the Warrior..

In my area, they used to play DS9 at 12:35am... so I used to have to "go to bed" and pretend to be asleep until I heard my parents turn in for the night. Since I didn't have a TV in my room in those days I'd have to sneak back downstairs and watch DS9 really close to the TV with the volume turned down low.

Somehow, watching DS9 on DVD in the middle of the day with no fear of being caught just isn't quite the same.

You know, they did pretty much the same for DS9 in my area, but my mother, who is a teacher, didn't have too much of an issue with me doing that. The only time I had to sneak around with my viewing habits was when I'd done something wrong and was not allowed to watch TV as a punishment.

That's one of the things that hurt my viewership of DS9 - in Chicagoland it was on WGN - TV 9 and constantly pre-empted by either Cubs baseball or especially Bulls basketball. They would show first-run eps at 1:30 a.m. at times! I grew tired of chasing the show and the Bajoran stuff in the first few seasons, so I gave up. Silly me, I missed the best (seasons 4-7)!

It is hard to watch TV shows when they keep moving them around. BAB-5, for me, had this problem for a while. I could never find it. BOSTON LEGAL has had that same problem too. I think they should have kept it on Sundays, after Desperate Housewives.

When DS9 was on, it was a syndicated show. But they had it on every Sunday night, 7pm, on sundays. When it coexisted with TNG they were both on Sundays....those were the days.

Just watched WOTW tonight for the first time. They appear to have gone overboard on Worf's eyebrows in this episode; they look very fake which was a little distracting.

For two-parters I'll give this one a B- for now. There didn't seem to be much point to it, other than to introduce the Klingons into the picture in a big way, but it was basically just a war story. Not much of a real Trek element to it.

I loved the "What do they think I'm smoking?" look Sisko had after Martok said 'It's a trick with thoron fields and duranium shadows". That was so funny. Then Sisko lets them have it.

God, I miss DS9

I'm curious. Do you consider the BoBW to be just a war story (albeit with one enemy ship) with no Trek element to it?

It might be better to say those episodes are lacking in my favorite Trek elements. :bolian:
The following DS9 episode, "The Visitor", just blew me away last night. Definetly on my A-list.
In BoBW, I don't remember much classic Trek vibe, but it also had the mother of all cliffhangers.

I loved seeing Worf come on the show, though, I was even cheering at points and laughing out loud. Not bad for a war story. :klingon:
