I can't buy that argument, though. Lots of film and TV actors have significant stage experience and can still modulate their performances.I think once I found out that Brooks has done a lot of his acting on the stage rather than on camera, I could understand where the overacting came from, even if I think on occasion it blew what could've been really good moments (yes, "Rapture", and "Far Beyond the Stars," I'm looking at you!). When you're on stage and you have to project your voice and gestures all the way to the back of the theater, you end up having to act in a far more dramatic way, something that would appear overacted in any other medium.
I hadn't heard that. That would have rocked!I must admit though; after having read that Tony Todd auditioned for the role as well, I can't help but wonder how that would have been.

...In fact, Todd had auditioned for the role of Benjamin Sisko on Deep Space Nine, and got pretty close. "I know that I was a favorite among fifty percent of the producers, but they didn't go with me," he says, explaining that he went through three auditions before the network decided they wanted someone with a bigger name...
Isn't over acting a requirement for being a Trek captain?
