Blue Warp Nacelles?

I initially wanted to say that the question is moot, so long as the new Enterprise is aesthetically pleasing. To me.

But then I read something about a U.S.S. Eldritch and started wondering when Philip K. Dick's ghost had started naming starships...

But wouldn't it be MORE pleasing with blue & pink vectoring nacelles, Shatner heads spitting PEZ, googly eyes, a sombrero, a disruptor-shooting menorah, flame decals, a Worf-ified deflector, and fuzzy dice? If not, then our lives are meaningless.

so will the various someberoprises be decorated for different holdays.,

I call this one: Groovy Ghoulies*-Trek

*does anyone remember that "other" Filmation/Hal Sutherland 1970s animated series?

EDIT: Oops!...I accidentally deleted the pic from imageshack..I re-posted another copy.

I thought you guys might be interested in knowing that in the new issue of Batman (by Grant Morrison) the Joker says that sombreros are always funny when he sees a guy wearing one.

Here's what the Enterprise should look like in the new movie:

See this thread and this page for details about the ship and the person who "built" it.

To me, this version perfectly captures the "TOS in HD" comments I've read attributed to Abrams et al. concerning the look of things in the new movie.

[Whoof! Mighty large image there. I'm going to convert it to a link, and suggest a smaller size (640x480 is the recommended size under board rules -- a little larger might be allowable in a thread like this one) or a thumbnail linking to the full-sized image - M']

Hmm, very nice, but where's the sombrero? I don't think this will fly with the fans. If Abrams uses this design, I'm boycotting this movie.

It just occurred to me that if they released this film on the 5th, rather than the 8th... Paramount could tout the fact that the film opens on Cinco de Mayo, and could easily get away with prominently featuring sombreros in all trailers and advertising.

And tacos, don't forget the tacos... with lots of guacamole!

I'm pretty certain I had something else to do for the past two days than read 104 pages of Sombrero humour, but damn, you guys are funny! :techman:

May I just say that this thread continues to make me SUPER HAPPY - especially about the fact that it is still going!!!! :D

It has been more than a two hours and I see no Sombreroes on the new photos released today...please photoshop Gods, answer my prayers. we need Sombreroes (maybe some avocadoes to soothe the burn).

Another sombrero sighting this week, on "How I Met Your Mother". Not only was the sombrero seen, but it was directly referenced in dialogue. A nice deep blue number with gold trim. I'm telling you, something's going on here...the Sombero Revolution is taking hold of the media!

Well, going by the new pics, the Nacelles on the federation 'ships' are not blue, nor vectoring, nor have Shatner's head spitting pez, nor have Somberoes, or fuzzy dice, or Worf's head, or etc etc etc etc....

:borg:

HOWEVER, do not let this thread die just because of all these facts.

"Facts"? When did anyone on these here Interwebs ever care about "facts"? A wise man once said "You wouldn't know a 'fact' if it begged you all night long!" I think that man was talking to the Internet.

Viva Sombrero!

Someone wanted Trek XI photos with sombreros? Ask and you shall receive!

Large version is here.
