Wow, this Ravens/Titans game is about to degenerate into a bar brawl. I'm fully expecting one of the Titans' defensive players to show up on the field with a pool cue.

The Giants were beating the Seahawks 27-6 at the half, which is good. Being a Giants fan I'm watching this game by myself. Most people around here are Seattle fans with a sprinkling of 49er/Raider fans mixed in.

Oh, my God, I feel so bad for Lions fans right now.

But at least the Bears are helping me forget about the Cubs. :)

Somedays, I just don't know if it's even possible to understand Al Davis.
Al is supremely easy to understand. He wants to win -- right now. As long as his head coaches complete this task, they get a pretty free hand in running the team. If they don't, they are subject to termination without regard to whether they got a fair chance.

The problem is that Al is no longer one of the best judges of football talent in the league and the best and most experienced of coaching talent won't work for him.

But Al was quoted at the Kiffin press conference that he was in talks with a guy to take over the day to day football operations (talking about a front office exec). The speculation is that it a guy from the 9ners' front office. This was the only encouraging to come out of the press conference, for Raider fans.

The most discouraging thing was Al saying he was in the best of health and that his Mom lived to be 103. Mark my words, he will either die while still running the team, or if he does retire, it will be because of failing health and he will be dead shortly after retiring.

If the Colts pull this one out, I would not want to be Sage Rosenfels tomorrow. It isn't entirely his fault, but that's what it's going to look like to folks. Two great defensive efforts by Indy, and bang-bang .... they're about to go ahead

BEAR DOWN, CHICAGO BEARS

MAKE EVERY PLAY CLEAR THE WAY TO VICTORY

Even if it is over the Detroit Lions, and they're awful, but, still, I'll take 334 yards from Kyle Orton.

Well, my spirit is at the brink of being broken. I expected Green Bay to lose to Dallas. Against Tampa, I thought the odds were 50/50. So Green Bay's loss there, while disappointing, didn't provoke me to slam my head into the nearest wall. Then there was our defeat at the hands of Atlanta. Now I need to make a Home Depot run to get some new drywall.

God I know the Niners were playing the Patriots but that was awful. From the bad audio on the CBS feed (I barely heard any of the announcers) to the Niner offense barely being on the field and so on. Things started out so promising, and then that game became so excruciatingly bad to watch. As long as I was watching that game, I actually kept turning into the NHL network to see if there was a real hockey game on. There was (Detroit and Buffalo) and I actually enjoyed watching some of that even though it was preseason. I know I really shouldn't get this uptight because it was against the Patriots, but that was god awful.

Has anyone checked on Spider?

He probably shouldn't be left alone right now....

I was thinking the same thing earlier. But he's probably got his good friends Jack Daniels and Johnny Walker keeping him company tonight.

i feel really sorry for spider and the other texan fans
to have that game won and do something so supremely stupid not once but twice.

things are bad enough in that area and football may not seem that important.
but it gets peoples minds of other stuff for awhile and have your team screw that up.

or rather one player.

Wonderful.

Despite Garrard's efforts, some quite questionable referees, and a monumental effort by the defenisve line....the Jaguars still lost. What the FUCK is wrong with our secondary? They couldn't stop a fly. Rashean Mathis is the only player doing anything in the secondary. Every single wide shot showed half the secondary getting beat on their routes. This is going beyond unacceptable into simply fucking pathetic. The offensive line is pretty damn bad too; they can't stop anyone or open a hole, and our running game has gone to hell because of it.

Not to question your analysis, but I thought that Roethlisberger had a heckuva game overall. The Jags were getting some excellent pressure on him, breaking down the OL protection. Yet Big Ben's size and perhaps even sheer heart allowed him to make the play when it was needed most.

Detroit's defense is horrid, which is why I picked up Kyle Orton in fantasy this week. Their secondary can make just about any QB look great.

I'm getting really frustrated with my Packers. It's bad enough that their defense is shaky (granted, they are pretty banged up) and their offense is average at best, but they're committing way too many penalties. At the rate they're going, they could set an NFL record for most yards penalized.

Oh, I completely agree, but Big Ben had loads of help from his receivers being open all the time. It was one of the best damn pass-rush jobs I've ever seen from the Jaguars, but it did nothing without a secondary to shut down his options.

I'm not trying to diminish Ben (who is a great QB), but the Jaguars' secondary has been our major issue in every single game this year. It's absurd.

It is indeed. The secondary needs to step up. Again, Reggie Nelson and Drayton Florence were out, so that didn't help. But still..

Next week the Jags face a big test at Denver. I'll be as bold to say that if they're back the defense may be able to step up and give Garrard some breathing room.

I was going to to say that the running game had another chance to get going, but Denver really stepped up against Tampa.
