What is it?

I want to say maybe The Way of The Warrior or The Visitor or What You Leave Behind, but I can't be sure...

What do you think?

Well, for the past 5 1/2 years since I've been the mod of this forum, whenever we have had a poll on this topic it has always come out to be In the Pale Moonlight.

A sentiment, by the way, that I agree with.

I hate trying to define or identify the "best" when it's a question of personal taste. Everyone has their own favourite - mine is "Rapture". Is it the best? Not in most peoples' opinions.

As I've stated in this forum on a few occasions, I think The Visitor is not only the best episode of Deep Space Nine, for my money it's the best episode of any television show ever produced.

For me, it's a three-way tie between Far Beyond the Stars, The Visitor, and for a good, rollicking adventure, To the Death, esp. since it's the ep which introduced Weyoun and gave us Clarence Williams III as a Jem'Hadar! -- RR

I really enjoyed the 3-parter that opened season 2. I still remember how excited I got the first time it aired when there was a 2nd 'to be continued' screen!

I've always thought The Visitor was the best episode this series had. Yeah there were so many classics, but The Visitor resonated with me the most.

Definately 'The Visitor', but part of it's strength lies in knowing the close bond Sisko and Jake have and the loss they both feel after the death of Jennifer beforehand.

The best (as in artistically best) is In the Pale Moonlight, it's final scene prbably being the most chilling in all of Star Trek. My favourite (as in the one I like the most) is Far Beyond the Stars.

In the Pale Moonlight is the best. However, DS9 has dozens of episodes, literally, that are also masterpieces.

DS9 just has too many fantastic episodes.

My personal favorite are the two parters like "Favor the Bold" / "Sacrifice of Angels" and "In Purgatory's Shadow" / "By Inferno's Light" and "What You Leave Behind." Artistically is definately "Far Beyond the Stars" or "In the Pale Moonlight"

Re: Have you ever danced w/the Devil............

Also think The Visitor was the best episode of DS9.

Definately 'The Visitor', but part of it's strength lies in knowing the close bond Sisko and Jake have and the loss they both feel after the death of Jennifer beforehand.

Not really, the episode works perfectly on its own terms, even if you know nothing about DS9 and its characters. At its basis this story deals with such fundamentals of human life that anyone who isn't emotionally dead can relate to it. In fact I have watched The Visitor with people who knew almost nothing about Star Trek and they were always moved to tears, even though some of them considered Trek to be trash.

It is an outstanding episode, maybe the best 42 minutes of Star Trek ever made.
