My VCR jambed the tape and spit it out. I came home to catch the last 15 minutes of it.

EMP paralyzer: Dumb

Techs working to get KITT back online: Dumb

I don't see how this is a continuation. It should be just Mike, Deanna, and Deanna's father and *maybe* one other character.

I remember her saying one of the things was having sex on the beach listening to some composer.

Yeah, but I didn't catch what she said. When she started talking, I didn't know she was going down the list. If I knew she was doing that I would have paid more attention.

This was getting much closer to what I was hoping the series would be — 80s Knight Rider cheese updated for today's sensibilities. I still don't like that so much of what goes on involves the "cave" crew, but this was far, far better than either the pilot movie or the season premiere.

Sarah's bucket list:

1. Climb to the summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro
2. Sail around the world
3. Make love on a tropical beach while listening to Puccini.

Fun stuff, I like the throwback approach they're taking but I'm not sure if it's not hurting their potential audience. Though I'd just about tune it for Deanna Russo alone.

I think "truck mode" is going to be widely reviled. Forget KITT, I want to know what happens to the passenger's legs. If they have to keep it maybe they could find a better way to render it.

KITT's printer looks like someone is pushing the page out the other side just like the original series but now it prints in color. Bonus.

And who didn't smile when KITT raced down the desert with the theme in the background?

The one thing I was expecting was the chick's skirt to blow up when the cars raced by, how could they miss that opportunity, it's not like it would be out-of-character for this series.

I meant to put this in my earlier post, but this is exactly what I was talking about when I criticized last week's episode for just giving Michael a name change and not a face change as well. Sure enough, he walks into a bar in the middle of Bumblefuck, CA, and meets an old Army buddy. Who'd have guessed?!? :rolleyes:

Totally agreed. Yeah it was cliched and unoriginal as hell, but it was the best executed episode so far, and actually had some pretty fun moments ("A Mustang? I'm scared", and Michael being distracted by the hot girls both had me cracking up).

I really wish they'd use the KR theme more during the action scenes though. It amplifies the cool factor by about 1000%, and is certainly better than that generic rock music they use throughout.

Well at least KITT can now keep up with a Lamborarri w/ N20. In the pilot, the car couldn't outrun a Ford Escape. But you're absolutely correct. Michael and KITT should have been able to give the Lamborarri a 1/4mi headstart and still beat it.

I voted Good. I really enjoyed the races. The homage scene in the desert was really good too.

What do you mean the original KITT? This KITT was hitting speeds over 300mph while on fire in the very first episode without being in Attack Mode.

This episode felt much more like an episode of the 80's show than the pilot, and I think that's fantastic.

Narrative is... fast. Some scenes seem to be rushed one after the other. Is this on purpose or do they try to cut the scenes and compress to obtain a watchable 42-minutes episode? I guess it's on purpose. The whole stealing scene was so silly, I can't understand why they came up with it instead of developing a better story. I know, you're gonna tell me it's because we had to see Deanna in bikini and it surely says so in the Bible :p I hate bibles.

In the first episode, they killed Mike Traceur. And next thing you know, they make him run into an old friend. Which is secretly in the evil gang but God knows how, everyone watching the show knew it on first sight. Who said cliché?

Overall, I liked the TOS feeling about this episode culminating with that scene in the desert with the updated TOS music, that was really good. But they need to go without the SSC.

By the way, they come and go like the SSC is in the neighborhood just like in the previous episode, which happened near Washington. But we're in California, on the other side of the United States now, and nothing changes! Does the place teleport or what? The writers don't mind showcasing awesome technologies such as the replicator (which is really too much IMO), but they tend to write shit when it comes to the problems KITT encounters (or that the SSC seems to be nearby) and how to solve those problems. It wasn't bad enough to have KITT unable to cut wireless communications in the telemovie. They continue to come up with crap like a very convenient portable EMP generator in the middle of the desert, and even then, KITT subsystems are still somehow able to communicate with the SSC. Is Knight Rider 2008 intended for people without brain? :wtf: (and I don't mean that the participants in this thread are without a brain ;) )

Something is going on in the background: was KITT malfunctioning when he showed Mike's classified files? Or is he just devious? :evil:

Now the obvious question: what is KITT not able to do? (besides the obvious answer: transforming mid-air).

^ Yeah I don't really mind there being a KITT Cave, or seeing Michael and KITT communicating with the team throughout the episode. But it's really getting ridiculous watching the two return to base for a chat every 20 minutes.

With all the great interface technology they have, there just shouldn't be a need for all those visits.

Some people are taking this show far too seriously.

Cogley's Rule #92: You aren't allowed to take a show more seriously than it takes itself.

To be fair, it's not like they looked to their left and conveniently found one lying around. They were transporting a truck full of technology. Having a portable EMP generator among that tech isn't out of the realm of reason.
