Knight Rider "Pilot" - Discussion and Spoilers

It was okay, except for the pickup truck. What were they THINKING!?!?
Yeah, that really disappointed me. I can believe little bits of stuff that pop out when they go to Attack Mode; as far as I'm concerned it's no less plausible than the old Super Pursuit Mode, or the shields on the '89 Batmobile.

But that truck... I mean, damn, even Michael Bay's big, loud, dumb Transformers movie went out of its way to avoid mass-shifting by recasting certain robots' vehicle modes.

Great first ep IMO,having been a fan of the KR:TOS For its four year run,but I did not have a VCR back then to record it.However that being said you can go to the official website for the show, and watch the ep that just aired how cool is that.
Love the truck mode BTW I hope that we see more of it.

That's all got to get some rest, busy day at work I'm training new hires for my company that I work for.

Signed

I was really looking forward to the new KR. This first episode was kind of boring. I would give it an average grade. It's Knight Rider though, so I'll watch it until it's pulled mid season.

If by "mid-season" you mean "3-episodes in."

Sure.

;)

^ And how exactly does he get into the bed of the truck?

I imagine a combination of the nanotech, panels shifting and some type of conveyer system. Reminds me of the early days of Trek when fans wondered "How does Warp Drive work?" :)

No explanation of the story. Who was the bald guy with the virus in his DNA? What WAS the virus? What did it do?
He explained to Mike that his DNA contained the solution to an unbreakable encryption code. Not that it mattered; that guy was the McGuffin, and the whole point of this episode was for the female FBI agent to "kill" Mike at the Metro station so that he's forced to change his identity and go around calling himself Michael Knight.
They should have seized the opportunity to cast a new actor as Mike Traceur. You know, changing his face so he won't be recognizable by his "old friends".

Also it's too bad so many people are aware of Mike's true identity.

No kidding. This show has more holes in it than a kitchen colander.

Yeah, I made that point a few pages ago. ;)

Dropping all of the sexual innuendo would be nice as well and make it a show about apprehending criminals.

Why not have both the innuendo and the busting of criminals?

Because I'm not 16-years old and get titillated by that sort of thing. That crap gets really old and makes for a poor script.

I'm not 16 either but, I still don't mind the occasional piece of eye-candy on TV. That's one of the few things that keeps TV watchable these days. It's not like it has to be in every episode. I'm watching this show for the car. The gorgeous female flesh is just a nice bonus.

I have to admit, Deanna Russo is very beautiful. No denying that, but I'm watching for the car.

We need fast cars in prime time television nowadays. (The CSI SUV and Hummers do not count.)

More car chases, too.

^ There was a show called Fast Lane that featured a team of cops that made use of a fleet of confiscated sports cars. It started back in 2002 on FOX and got cancelled after one season. Don't know if anyone remembers it.

I didn't say there wasn't any problem with eye candy, I said that sexual innuendo is droll and makes for crass writing. If the characters are supposed to have advanced degrees and such, sexual innuendo is pretty much something they wouldn't be doing.

It's interesting to note how TV characters reflect very little of society. I would think an organization like that would have a strict behavioral policy regarding what could be construed as sexual harassment. I work for a small company and could be hammered for an infraction nowhere near what went on in that episode. Larger companies are much the same.

Again, I grew up. Has anyone else?

Man, I would LOVE to see a return of all those cool car chases and car stunts from the 80s. Unfortunately this didn't have that 80s feel in the slightest. It was all way too fake and CG, and relied too much on flashy scifi imagery over actual stunts.

Hell, the original show almost looks dark and gritty next to this one. lol :D
