Diet & Fitness Support Thread

My workouts lately have been AWESOME. I think it's because I've cut back on gym time. I'm only going 3-4 times a week instead of 5-6, and I'm eating more, so I have a lot more energy, and I'm giving myself more time to recover.

^^^
I noticed the same thing with me. Earlier this year I was overdoing my workouts at the gym plus running all the time. I was tired and actually felt pretty drained most of the day. I finally cut back on the workouts at the gym and I eat more, and feel really pretty good now.

I changed up most of my running for biking, too. I love my bike. Easy on the knees.

It's amazing what letting your body recover between workouts will do for you.

Oh dear god, I feel like hell. I did heavy deadlifts last night for the first time in months, and today my everything hurts. Looks like it might have to be a lazy day of laying on my couch and eating.

^I hate deadlifts but I know they are a great movement. I'm going to have to work those into my routine at some point.

How is going up the stairs working out for you right now?

I had another great session of HIIT last night. I reduced my rest interval to 60 seconds but I think I'm still going to have to up the intensity of my sprints. My cardiovascular condition is much better than I thought!

^Stairs were fine earlier, but I ended up going to the gym tonight anyway and did squats and then spent a half hour on the bike.

I've been doing deadlifts every other Back Day (doing it every back day wears me out), but last night was the first time in a while that I went really heavy.

Deadlifts yesterday + Squats today = a Very Sore Body. My legs nearly gave out when I was sitting up from the toilet tonight.

I also got home, cooked 5 pork chops, and ate them all. I was planning on spreading them out over 2 meals, but I was just so hungry.

I did 3 hours of hiking on Rattlesnake Canyon trail with my 10-year-old yesterday and it was WORK! :D He was faster than I was to start, but I had more endurance. By the end I was kicking his butt.

Lots of rock scrambling and the 2 miles back downhill was a killer for my quads. I am REALLY sore today. (Feels great!)

I managed to make it to the gym 5 times last week and finally started a new ab routine. I did legs and arms on Friday and increased weights on my squats, leg extensions and hamstring curls and added another bicep exercise. I'm feeling pretty stiff right now so I guess that means I've been working hard enough!

Luckily I won't be doing any running until Tuesday so hopefully my legs will be up to it by then.

Oh yeah, I just checked and my waist is down one inch since September 5th too! :techman:

I'm starting my new workout today, if I can make myself go the gym ... my husband went without me, the twerp. :vulcan: It's so much easier to go with somebody else - no excuses!

CONGRATS!!:bolian:

Thanks! I still have quite a ways to go but it's nice to see the progress.

I know what you mean. When my wife doesn't meet me at the gym after work it's very tempting to just go home. Chances are I'll be on my own tonight because she is sick at the moment. I'm still going to go though because I want to see if I can up my weight on chest tonight.

I haven't read through this because it's too long but do any women contribute to this thread?

I'm a fattie who wouldn't have the nerve to go to a gym, so I bought myself a treadmill last week. I absolutely love it.

You bet! There's me and Crusher Disciple, to name two regulars. And I've seen HighTeeHeller stop by a few times ... I'm sure there are more!

It's great to have you in the thread. Good luck with your treadmill!

I'm underweight (and NOT bragging about it, by any means). I'm at the "I can only drag my ass over there to do yoga once a week" stage now. Although I want to go inline skating tonight after supper. Adults only after 7! :techman:

Seconded.

Well, I am officially stoked.. I have been kicking much booty, and tonight it was confirmed. Even I, who never think I look good, was happy.

Once I stopped personal training over 2 years ago, I went from 195 to 245, from a 34 to a 40" waist.

But it's been on like donkey kong the past 3 months, so much so I had to go shopping for new pants tonight. Went to Express Men, and bought two pair of 34" boot cut jeans. Boo-yah. Little tight - I'm probably like a 35" but I still have about 10-15 lbs to go til I'm "cut".

But damn, I'm a happy camper.

^Good work! I can't wait until I have to buy new clothes!

Last week was a great week for me. I made it t the gym five times and so far this week I'm two for two.

I did some more HIIT on the treadmill last night and added a three degree incline to my sprints and that made the difference. I feel like I was properly winded by the end of it.

And to top it all off a coworker asked me if I'd lost some weight yesterday. I guess I wasn't imagining that my face is looking slimmer after all!

Good luck with the treadmill Deckerd. I'm kind of envious as I've wanted a treadmill at home for quite a while now.

I drank, um, A LOT on Saturday. More than I should have. My workouts have suffered the last few days.

But I did have a lot of fun, so I'll consider it an even trade.
