IIRC, Spock denied permission for Operation Vanguard because of the proximity to Klingon/Tholian space. so how come we now get a MU Vanguard story??

The premise for Voyager as a series never came to pass in the MU either, but there was a Voyager MU novel. I'm sure there are plenty of things to do with the characters, settings or other elements of the series without necessarily having a Vanguard station (not that I'm saying there won't be, just that it would be possible without).

Actually, Spock "terminated Operation Vanguard," thereby implying it existed at some point (and in some form). :)

That makes perfect sense. Vanguard starts at the beginning of season 1 in our universe. Mirror, Mirror takes place in the middle of season 2 and it takes years for Spock to be in a position to cancel anything in the mirror universe. So yeah, Project Vanguard was around. Well probably. :)

I'm really looking forward to this book.

In addition to the above...Enterprise, the original series, The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, Voyager, New Frontier, Stargazer, Gorkon, Titan, and one more that's outside those classifications, but which may be considered TNG.

^They can call it Titanic and it can hit a large chunk of ice....

More seriously, I can't imagine how Titan exists in the MU any more than Voyager.

It will probably be character-based, like the MU Voyager novel was. Just off hand, the TNG novel didn't show MU Riker or Troi, and of course there's all the original characters like Vale, Jaza, Ree, etc.

    April shook his head.

Damn it, that was too much of a spoiler for me.

he wasn't decapitated at the beginning of the story.

    Not necessarily.

I've thought Dayton has been on a "Spock's Brain" trip recently. Clearly it's from the research for this story, where a MU version of that technology allows April to survive decapitation by placing his head in a jar. "I share my wisdom with those who seek it. It's a life of quiet dignity." "Feeding time!"

In case it isn't blindingly obvious, my story is the Gorkon one, though it also has a heavy Cardassian presence, also. In fact, the story was inspired by Warpath, which showed Captain Klag and Gul Macet as colleagues and friends, so I decided to tell the story that threw them together. :)

    Yay! More Empress Sato!
...and T'Pol, Supreme Regent of Vulcan of course.

Will this still be based on Mike Sussmans plans about ENTs MU-Arc, or did his input end after Age of the Empress?

Never mind Sussman's plans...I want to hear more about the other one:

Spock's grand plan for causing the fall of the Alliance. You know, with the Vulcan sleeper agents and all that. I hope this hasn't been forgotten.

I assure you, it has not been forgotten — and figures prominently in my contribution to the anthology.
