Reports of a statue of Archer in the Academy scenes?

The Rock

Fleet Captain
Fleet Captain
I heard this mentioned over on the IMDB boards. During a visit to the Starfleet Academy set, someone (from AICN I believe it was) saw a statue of Captain Archer.

Does anyone know anything more about this?

If this is true, I think that's damn cool. And just because people who haven't seen Enterprise won't know who that's a statue of, doesn't mean it can't be in the movie. It's not like most of the mainstream audience will know who Captain Pike was either....

I don't recall seeing anything of the sort in the spy photos we know about (some of them were indeed posted at AICN, but I don't think any of their people were present while filming was going on.)

True, also, is that all sorts of fairy tales get mentioned over at the IMDb boards. Maybe there will be such a statue in the movie, and I wouldn't rule something like that out, but I'd be wanting confirmation from a source that's a bit more reliable than what is typically found there.

I understood the producers were trying to stay well clear of anything ENTERPRISE-related?

Not in this universe.
They explicitly stated that they consider Enterprise part of canon and will make a homage/note to the series in some fashion.

No, they intimated in an early interview that there'd be some kind of homage to ENT.

A statue of Archer on the grounds of the academy makes sense as a nice, non-obstrusive salute to the series. Or even just a sign on a main building on campus that says, "Archer Hall."

I would very much appreciate this, but everything posted/reported/declared on IMDB should be taken with a grain of salt.

False. Paramount knows better then to make 90% of the audiance go: "why is there a statue of that guy from Quantom Leap in the movie?"
There was a rumor that a picture of the NX-01 was hanging in one of the halls of the acadamy. Now that I find much more plausible.

Actually it is a statue of Scott Bakula for his work on Quantum Leap. Nice of Starfleet to honor such a great American actor like that. They'll also have a statue of Bill Mumy.
