Please Explain Rose Tyler's new Buck Teeth

Whettestone

In "Turn Left", Rose Tyler has new buck teeth. Can somebody please explain why? I looked up the episode on Wikipedia but there's no mention.

She reminds me of someone doing a spoof of that guy from Casablanca.

Rose is going to defeat the Daleks next week by gnawing them to death.

Hey, I haven't seen you around here in a while. Nice to know you're still alive.

In answer to your question, I've read stuff about Billie Piper getting her natural overbite fixed, so she had to wear fake teeth in this episode to make her look like Rose used to. Don't know if any of this is true or not.

And actually what really happens in TWO weeks is:

Donna defeats the Daleks by making them spin around in circles after she essentially turns into a Female Doctor.

Dental surgery.

Really, really annoying. Every bloody scene just had me staring at those teeth, and trying to work out what the hell went wrong. Poor old Billie.

My wife (who only watches who whilst doing Sudoku and doesn't really "watch") said "Is that meant to be the Doctor's friend from a few seasons ago? Why didn't they just use the same actress?"

I'm gone for a little while, come back, and everybody has sombreros!?!?!?!

I'm reminded of the scene in "The Five Doctors" where Jon Pertwee has to haul up Sarah Jane Smith from a ditch with a rope and a CAR because her ass was too fat, er, I mean, because a script said the "cliff encline" was too great for her to climb. When she sees Jon Pertwee again she describes Tom Baker by motioning her hands on her face and Jon Pertwee says "What? All teeth and hair"? I laugh because Sarah Jane Smith just described a badger. And Rose Tyler's teeth reminds me of that now.

Any teeth problem she had before couldn't have been too problematic because she had a singing career.

I have been reliably informed that Billie Piper has had veneers attached to her teeth. These can cause speech problems for a while after they are attached.

I have veneers on my front teeth, and I have had no speech problems with them. May be she should have got a better dentist......

She looked like Dwayne Dibbly. I honestly assumed that she'd lost so much weight that he teeth just seemed larger because her face had shrunk.

I had wondered what all this was about, but I finally saw "Turn Left" last night and now I know. Yeah, the teeth and voice were a bit distracting, but it was still nice to see Rose again, and it lessens somewhat next episode. Though to be honest, I didn't notice anything really "wrong" with Billie's oral situation pre-veneer. Why wasn't I consulted??

The funny thing about Rose's voice is that Billie had forgotten how to do Rose's accent. She talked in an interview about having to rewatch the first two seasons of Doctor Who to refresh her memory. :)

She seems to be hoping to make it in America. And there seems to be something about teeth when it comes to working there, there seems to be plenty of stories about TV/music stars being told by agents in the US that they need to do something with their teeth to make it in the US
.
She also said something about thinking she's ruined her chances by going topless in Secret Diary

Rose's accent isn't Billie's natural one? Huh, I did not know that. I guess I'd never really heard her talk beyond the Rose character, and I didn't notice anything different in the one ep of Secret Diary of a Call Girl that I saw. Learn something new everyday.

She's actually well posh. You know in New Earth, where her body has been stolen by Cassandra? That's basically her real voice.

Yet she's originally from Swindon which is not posh, and the accent is very different.

So - when did her voice go all posh, I wonder....stage school, maybe? WE MUST FIND OUT!

:D

It was while she was married to Chris Evans, can't get posher than she was then... ;)
