Your in command of Atlantis

Well, to pick out the largest flaw in that plan, the Wraith would still have free run of the Pegasus galaxy even without the stargates, so the only effect of shutting down the network would be to strand the indigenous human populations, preventing them from escaping wraith attacks, making diplomatic partnerships, or engaging in the interplanetary trade that they no doubt depend on to survive after living with it for at least ten thousand years. So that's pretty much just being a DB for no reason.

The Human populations don't want the Atlantis group, an upcoming episode of season 5 is going to make it clear all of them want the Earth group gone.

The Asurans have been destroyed, the Wraith will tear themsevles apart and whats left will take Micheal years to consolidate and turn into an effective task force for him to use, if at all.

At that point should they try and get to Earth it will be many years down the road, with the entire 304 fleet, 3 Aurora's, Atlantis, hundreds of 302's, the Ancient weapons platform, the Free Jaffa Nation, the Tok'Ra, Lucian Alliance standing between him and victory.

Without Stargates, Pegasus is basically a few dozen Human worlds that are very ungrateful and want us gone, and the Wraith in the middle of a civil war. Whatever Wraith make it as far as the Milky Way are fucked.

Be lucky I didn't go ahead with Plan A. Pretty much the Plan B above only with the added effect of sending a massive viral infection throughout the galaxy then shutting down the network, euthanising the entire population of Pegasus as Atlantis leaves for home.

If I were in command of Atlantis I would...

1) Search the Ancient database for all information pertaining to making ZPMs and Stargates.

2) Make enough ZPMs to fly Atlantis back to the Earth.

3) Place Atlantis in a different area on the planet to the Anarctic outpost to make it harder for someopne to take both out in an attack.

4) Find the Athosians a nice uninhabited planet in the milkyway to live on.

5) create a duplicate of the Atlantis control crystal that allows the dialing of gates in other galaxies.

6) Search the Atlanis database for abondoned Ancient Outposts the are still there.

7) Travel to the Outpost in a ship to make sure it is still there, and if it is move the gate inside the outpost if it isn't in there already, install an iris, place the duplicate control crystal in the DHD, hook up the ZPM, then send additional support personal, and finally use the outpost a a way station for the continued exploration of the pegasus galaxy from Earth.

8) Make more ZPMs for all the ships we have and make more as more ships are built.

9) Talk to Tomin about building a supergate in pegasus to allow our ships instant accesss to pegasus.

10) Install a force field generator on the milkyway supergate and give an IDC to all our ships and to Tomin to insure the Wraith can't use the supergate to get to the milkyway or thr Ori home galaxy.

11) sit back and continue the campaign against the Wraith from the confort of your home galaxy.

So, it's the same as they are with stargates. Either way, they can't dial out extragalactically without the control crystal, so they're no threat to anyone but themselves. I just don't see the point of destroying the pegasus gate network.

Because the Wraith are far more likely to get their hands on ZPM's or may be in possession of several already. Its not so much the Wraith, its Micheal. I can well believe he could soon use a ZPM or even develop another power source and Gate to the Milky Way from any Pegasus Gate and invade with his hybrids.

Ground forces gating in all over the Milky Way and entrenching, not a good thing. The Network isn't needed, not wanting to risk Micheal or something akin to the rise of the Goa'uld in our galaxy is enough reason to decommission it.

If I were in charge my primary goal would be to get Atlantis back to Earth. I would temporarily give Atlantis all 3 ZPMs and fly her back to Earth and land it back on the outpost in Antarctica and study it there and abandon the Pegasus galaxy.

I wouldn't land it on earth, with all the dangerous stuff they still find on it, it just wouldn't be smart to do.

I would land on the nearest habital planet near earth and it would make gate-ing to it simpler. You could install a MW gate in the main gate area, heh

^Atlantis was built on Earth. In the pilot we see that the facility the weapons platform is in is rather massive and carved into the continent just to support her.

So by plugging Atlantis back into her original facility and powering it up, its possible more safeguards will be activated.

That and I'd recall the Odyssey, connect the Asgard Core to Atlantis' main operating system, activate the core and ask the interface if the core can restore the computer to its original state and act as an interface to the Atlantis systems.

Something who speaks English to walk the Humans through anything they want to know about the Ancient Database. Eventually the core can be used to build something similar into the control room of Atlantis.

And yes, a MW Gate or even a custom made one. ;)
