ST: The Experience Closing Soon...who has never been?

I was in Vegas at the beginning of July this year, and I decided that I needed to go to the Experience before it closed on September 1st. It was pretty fun.

Has anyone on here never been there before?

I've never been....always wanted to go, but never had the time/money (too young when it first opened; just turned 21) to go. I remember watching the promotional ad for the experience on my old VHS of First Contact. It looked like a lot of fun.

I've never been. I moved my mother in after her stroke and just can't get away for trips any more, even with a part time CNA.

I never got to go unfortunately. The off strip location combined with non star trek friends equals never even came close. The sad thing is I've been to vegas when it was there many times too :(

I was just there the beginning of this month for my first and only time. Well, four times out of my five days in Vegas (what can I say, had to take it in while it's there!) Had the time of my life. :techman:

I haven't even been back to the States since 1987. But on that trip I got to meet Sylvester McCoy... :p

I never got to go either, although I do hold out hope that maybe it will get folded into one of the Paramount theme parks like King's Dominion.

Nope, never been. Was in Vegas only last summer, probably would have tried hard to convince the gf if I'd known it was my last chance. :( oh well.

The announcement of the closure was released a couple of days before I left for Vegas, oddly enough.

I've never been. It's too bad, but before I was 21 there wasn't much motivation for a trip to Vegas, and now that I'm finally 21 college and a lack of money and the impending closure pretty much mean I won't get to go. Oh, well.

I went a couple of years back, had a great time.

I'm very sad it is closing, wish I had a chance to visit it again.

That sounds likely. The Experience represents too big an investment to simply scrap it outright. While the attraction was no longer popular enough to serve as the focal centerpiece of a major casino/resort, it was certainly popular enough to still be exploited profitably in another venue. Certainly popular enough to warrant placement in one of the many themeparks that are owned by Paramount/Viacom.

I'd say that it's likely that the ship and ride aspect of "The Experience" will "tour" the various parks, while The Experience's "museum exhibits" will probably tour various Children's Museums around the country, eventually to be permanently place in either the SF Museum in Seattle, or some similar venue.

And if Paramount/Viacom doesn't do this directly, you can bet that someone will buy the attraction from them, and tour it themselves.

While it's going away for now, I really doubt that it's gone for good.

I'd like to see this happen as much as you do, but I have to say I think this is wishful thinking. For one thing, they had to lower the ride simulators into the building before they put the roof on and will reportedly have to utterly demolish them to get them out.
