Is Rick Berman Rich?

Aike;1959550[Yes said:
Wiether or not he created Star Trek (yes, I know he didn't) isn't the issue. The question was, "is he rich?", well, the man works on Hollywood. Everybody down there lives in houses that are far too big for them, has golden toilets in every room, servants to see to their every need, and kiss their asses, and have more money than God.

So, it would seem to me, the answer to the OP's question is obvious.
I'm sure you're exaggerating, but still, every industry has its ladders, Hollywood is no exception. It's not an invalid question. It has to do with the lifestyle he was leading relative to the money he was making while working for Paramount and it has to do with the kind of deal he got for after working for Paramount. What kind of residuals does he get? Is there some other kind of benefits package?

Because showbiz is not a steady job someone just has for forty years (Berman's run on Trek is the exception, not the rule), so much is dependent on the distribution of money between gigs. That's what the WGA strike was about. It was about income earned between gigs, income from their shows distributed in other media and the resulting revenue.

There are people in the industry that are working class, middle class, upper middle class and rich. It depends on the job and the relative success someone has in that job. Berman was very successful in his job, which happened to be a top-tier job, so it's likely he's doing quite well for himself, but I'm not his financial planner. I mean even Shatner was living out of his truck for a while after TOS ended.

^Yes, the golden toliets was an exageration, but considering how much money Hollywood has, I wouldn't be surprised to learn that somebody down there has at least one.

I'd imagine he could have made quite a nest egg, but who knows what his standard of living became as the guy who ran Star Trek. I don't want to think what it must cost to live in his neighborhood.

Let´s about talk money even though it doesn´t exist in the 24th century.

Rick Berman co-created Deep Space Nine, Voyager and Enterprise.
Did this make him rich? Does anyone know what kind of deal he got?

(There may be some Paramount insiders lurking here:p)

Whatever his salary is it's too much.

And why's that exactly?

Yes, he's rich.

Whether or not he "created Star Trek" as a property is not a relevant issue. He is one of the creators of three "Star Trek" tv series, and characters which he is therefore considered responsible (with others) for creating appear in hundreds of hours of television which reruns endless and sells DVD units out the wazoo. The residuals from that alone would probably enable him never to work again.

Yes, he's rich.

Would you care to take a guess how rich he is?

And do you know how much he gets per rerun and dvd sale, respectively?

No, but I know how much one half of a writer gets per episode - so believe me, Executive Producer and Creator Berman does very well.

Moore has a bigger stake in BSG than Braga does in "24" - I'd imagine that between the two of them, RDM makes and will make more from BSG than BB will from "24" - but I could be wrong. Stranger things have happened. ;)
