Kobayashi Maru

Amazon just updated the status this afternoon to "in stock". Earlier it was to be in stock on 06Sep08.

I'm guessing you have, but one never knows.

Funny thing Dayton is that I went into the bookshop at Penn Station to get a newspaper and near the new release shelf was the ENTERPRISE book. Of course, I bought it and now have something to read while I'm out of town for the weekend..

Did'nt that happen with Greater than the Sum too?

Have you checked the mail room, maybe you have a fan who wants it first.

Hmmm... methinks Simon & Schuster Security will be paying a "friendly" visit to Man of Steel's house sometime soon....

I guess I will be on the lookout for this book, just in case I get it early here in virginia too but i highly doubt it.

I went to Barnes & Noble yesterday and they told me the book was being sent to their store. I can't wait to read this book and find out what happenes to the Enterprise and Columbia crews.

Ugh once again I preordered on Amazon and it still says it will ship Sept 2nd. :( Is there even a point to preordering?

Amazon UK are saying 6 to 9 day delivery - but that's what they said for FS and it then got bumped back to the end of August on my order.

Well, preordering doesn't mean you get the book before Amazon gets it, because clearly that's impossible. The point is to reserve a copy so that you get prompt service once it does become available -- and, if it's in heavy demand, to make sure you get one before it sells out. Although if an item attracts enough preorders, the dealer will know they have to order more to avoid sellouts.

Besides, it's just a matter of convenience. If you know now that you'll want to get the book once it's available, why not go ahead and take care of buying it now so it'll be taken care of, rather than waiting until later? Heck, if it were me, I'd be liable to get distracted and let the release date slip my mind.

I think it's more a problem of, lately, the book being avaliable more readily in shops before Amazon are even dispatching it. Amazon, at least Amazon UK, used to be really good with releasing books before they were avaliable readily in shops, but that has gone to pot now.

Yeah, that seems to be the case with Amazon US too. I don't usually order stuff from Amazon, but I do occaisionally look the reviews and stuff there, and I've noticed that it does seem to be taking them longer to get the books lately.

Have you tried changing your shipping preference? Mine was originally 29Aug but after changing the shipping preference twice (changed it first from the original date, then changed back to the original shipping preference to get an earlier date) so its now 19Aug08

Thanks for that tip! I changed it to standard shipping and back again and it now estimates it shipping on August 20th. :D
