The writers have gone back to Howard's original stories to create a $100 million R-rated origin film, the largest production to date for Lionsgate and Millennium.

"Fans expect (these types of movies) to be more true to the source material," Malmberg said. "There's no reason there couldn't be a Conan movie every two years. He's almost like Batman: He's a dark hero. He's a hard hero. He has to be badass, but we also have to like him."

I thought we'd never get a faithful Conan movie. I'm really looking forward to this.

I loved the Arnie Conan, but would also love to see a new version.

Yes, Conan is a tricky character - he's a violent guy in a violent time. But the one thing I really hope they remember is to capture his basic sense of honor and decency, and his intelligence. Underneath all the muscles there's no doubt that Conan is pretty smart.

The Howard Conan stories are a whole different ball game to any other Conan storeies, there's a strong horror element (Patly becaiuse he was writing them for Weird Tales) which was much reduced in others' hands.

While no horror fan, I want to see the Howard stories. Considering they were written seventy-plus years ago, they are a stunning achievement.

Awesome news, I hope they capture the look of the world as well as the MMO did. No offense to the Ahnolt movie fans, but I never really felt the setting looked anything like Hyborea as Conan described it.

I think you're thinking of the Conan rip-off, Deathstalker. and by the way, they've already re-made the "original" Deathstalker. the aforementioned scene was changed so the slave girl invites him to.

I hope they cast an actual actor this time, and not a former bodybuilder. Conan is muscular, yes, but aside from being a savage warrior he's also supposed to be an agile and cunning thief. I can't picture someone with a body like Schwarzenegger's being something like that.

No, I'm thinking of Conan the Barbarian with Arnie. After he becomes a successful Gladiator a practically naked slave girl is thrown in to his "quarters" with him. She resists but he calms her down before forcing himself on her anyway.
